He hasn’t lived anywhere for years. He grew up in a little town in a valley, given the name the Graveyard. When he was nine his entire family was slaughtered in-front of him, he took a horse and left after that night. After that he learned to hate the world, no one offered him a place to stay so he was forced into a life of killing and stealing. He’s never liked staying in towns and so he rarely does. He’s travelled across the US, and only stops into town if he really needs something. His favourite places to be are anywhere he can fish or not worry about any other people.
He gets his money from either stealing it or doing jobs for people, the former over the latter. He spends the money he gets on booze, sex, and any necessities. He rarely does any more jobs than he wants and rarely has any left over change after spending it. He lives comfortably for himself but not in luxury. He will only splurge for his horse, Peaches. He rarely draws any lines for the people he’ll kill and hates leaving loose ends. He does however have a soft spot for animals and refuses to kill dogs or horses. If an animal is shot in the crossfire he’ll hold a memorial for it.
He wants to create a lawless society. He wants others to suffer as he has, though he may not realize those are his true ambitions. He also may not realize all the implications of having a lawless society and how many people would truly suffer if that world came to be. His ideals are twisted and he is blinded by his past. He is absolutely willing to kill and or die for his cause and secretly kind of wants to. He wants his death to be a show, he wants to revered in the books of history, he wants to die young and happy. He’s come close to this death multiple times but refused to die because he wasn’t quite ready yet.
The most defining point in his life was the death of his family. A small group of outlaws came into town late one night. His parents told him and his two siblings to hide somewhere, and so they did. The bandits busted down the door and shot their mother point blank. Their father put up a fight, but swiftly had his throat slit. His little sister let out a scream and his older brother tried to protect her, they both swiftly met their end. He stayed under the bed as the outlaws did as they did. That made him the man he is today.
Peaches (His horse)-Peaches has been with him since the night his family died. His family’s horse and the only thing from his old life that’s still alive. She may be old but she’s reliable. He would do anything for her and he believes she’ll do the same for him, even if she is just a horse.
Crystal (His Best Friend with benefits)- A brothel worker and his best friend, him and Crystal met in their teens. She had confided in him that her at the time boyfriend was abusing her, he wasn’t walking the next day. Him and her have been close ever since. If she needs any help Jackal will help her.
Jasper (The man who gives him jobs…with benefits)- Jasper has been giving him jobs since he first say his expertise in firearms. If he can’t find a place to stay he goes to jasper. History will say they were best friends.
He doesn’t remember much of his childhood, most of that is lost to trauma. He remembers slightly his parents being very loving and caring. He remembers him, his dad, and his siblings taking care of their small farm. His mom made his clothes and cooked. He didn’t go to school because in his town there wasn’t one. He didn’t learn to read much more than the bible and even then he didn’t really understand the words being read to him. The only thing he ever learned to write was his own name, which at this point he also seems to have forgotten. After that he has had a little bit more education from Jasper. Jasper has been teaching him to read and write for a while now but he’s stubborn and has refused to learn much. Currently he only really knows how to write his “legal name” and half the time he becomes too frustrated with himself to even finish writing it.
Yes. He’s been in love once, he’s still in love. He didn’t believe it was real for a period of years, then he thought maybe he wasn’t capable of love or of being loved. He had flings at multiple brothels and never felt anything. Crystal was a first but he still never love loved her. Then he met Jasper, never had he been so willing to give up his entire being to a person like he was willing too for Jasper. He would do anything for him, even stop his life of crime. Luckily Jasper already had some ties to the criminal underground, so he didn’t have to.
He fears losing those close to him, due to his own actions mainly. He fears one day his life of crime will drive a wedge between him and Jasper. He couldn’t deal with losing someone close to him again after what happened to his family. There is a more direct event in his life that may have brought this fear more to the fore front of his mind. Back when he was 23 he was hired to kill a plantation owner. He did so but right as he was about to leave the at man’s wife came back in, Jackal panicked as he hadn’t concealed his face at the time thinking no one was there that would care if the man dropped dead. He shot her too. Then after those two shots rang out a little girl,11 years old, rushed down stairs to see what all the commotion was about. She stopped before the bottom watching the blood pool at the steps. Jackal already frazzled stared at her and saw himself. He thought about the night his parents died and wished that, and his subsequent life, upon no one else, so he shot her too. He regrets it to this day and actually stopped doing crime for about a year after. Jasper was thrown off by Jackals confession but could tell he was genuinely remorseful and quickly forgave him.
Jackals had issues with this fear recently as one of his party members looks very similar, to him at least, to the girl.
This is kinda difficult because he lacks many material possessions. His bandana is probably his current most prized possession. Crystal gave it to him for his birthday sometime after he had broke her ex boyfriend’s legs. He takes it with him everywhere he’s gone and he swears it still smells faintly of her, it doesn’t but a man can still believe. Most of his items he keeps were gifted to him so they all hold a little place in his heart but he probably wouldn’t be too terribly upset if he lost any of them. Recently he stole a set of rings with the hope of secretly gifting one to Jasper as a mimic proposal of some sort and if Jasper were to say yes to his proposal then his ring would probably become his most cherished item but as of right now he holds very little emotional attachment to any item.
His biggest problem is he can't leave Louisiana, he hates staying in one place for too long and it's stressing him out. He misses Jasper and is hoping he believes the letter he sent him. As more and more time passes he gets more and more stressed as time goes on. Jasper is in a risky business and Jackal is concerned for his safety. Since he can't see that he's ok he keeps fearing that he is dead no matter how irrational that thought is. He also would like to get his horse back as he misses her. Even though an evil entity is harassing him at the current time of writing this, that doesn't bother him that much though he has started to feel concern for the others he is working with, especially Bunny and Aisen to a lesser extent. Which he has only felt for a few others in his life.
Depends really. On average, he wakes up early, if he needs food he'll grab something from his satchel or hunt for it. Rabbits or fish are a staple of his diet and he sells the skins of anything he hunts for whatever he can get it for. If he's near water he'll usually wash the grime off of him, a habit he picked up from Crystal and Jasper. When he had his horse he would brush her every morning and make sure she got fed no matter what. Now that he's with people he offers to cook for them too. He shaves every other week and cleans his knife and gun constantly. He rarely enters towns unless he has to and much prefers to camp out in the desert or forest. He is not ready for something to go wrong and doesn't do a lot extra to prepare for the day.
