Why do I live in Chicago? Good question. I frankly have no fucking clue. Well... That's a lie; I do. It's because of the scum that live in it. Fuckers that won't ever see justice, that need to go to jail. I'm not talking about the drug dealers or the fucking cartels. They're bad, but still, their crimes are obvious, if annoying to find. It's the white collar fucks that need to be hunted. Those that steal from their workers or launder money. Chicago is full of those fucks. And god damn it, I will not fucking rest till I see them all behind bars or dead.
As for my home, it's in a small apartment complex outside the city proper, only about a thirty minute's walk from the main hub of activity, so a four-hour drive. It's nothing special. Rent is absurd, of course, but it is better than living in the city. The only objectively good thing about it is the fact that it's kinda hidden away.
I work for a living, dumbass. But for your information, I'm a police detective. Damn good at it, looking to join up with the FBI at somepoint. Nothing much to really say there. I solve crimes, not murders- at least, I generally don't solve murders. I do the missing persons cases, and some other things I won't tell you here, bucko.
As for what I spend my hard-earned Cheddar on... Rent. No, seriously. My rent is sixty percent of my paycheck. Frankly, I don't understand how people manage to live in the city proper with a paycheck smaller than mine. But for the little stuff I have left... I spend it on my hyperfixations, currently that is a TTRPG called weaverdice.
My ambition... That's a tough question to ask, sweetie. To put it simply, I want crime to stop. All crime, from littering to murder to government corruption. I'm not stupid, I know that isn't feasible, and that's not even mentioning the crimes that are necessary like a mother on disability stealing formula for her infant. I just... I want to exist in a world where sensible, kind people are the norm: those who don't drink and drive and such. But... How far would I go to achieve it? I don't know. Every day, I do my best to make sure monsters go behind bars, and maybe sometimes those arrests aren't completely legal, but they stick. As for killing... I don't know. I hope I never have to find out, but... realistically, it's the trolley problem. If somehow killing a person would stop all horrible acts, then yes, I would, but that's not how this works. It's not that one person needs to go; the entire system itself needs to burn. I would kill those who deserve it. Nothing more, nothing less. As for who I would kill... Well, I'll know it when I see it.
As for how close to death, Hah, yeah no, nothing is worth your life and liberty. To give a legit answer, about right before getting permanently disabled.
