Baldric Anders's Questionnaire

1. What town or city do you live in? Why do you live there instead of anywhere else? Describe your home.

While originally from a more simply, safer town, I felt my drive to justice and saving those who can't save themselves was not appropriately being utilized. Moving to New York City I have been able to fight crime and help those in need much more. My home and headquarters is located in the suburbs of the city away from it all so I can safely keep my tools and my resources. The total space of my house is enough for a small smithing set up in the garage and then a spare room that I replaced with a concrete floor and filled with workout gear to help keep myself fit! I have a nice kitchen with all the protein that I need, an adequate bedroom, and a simple bedroom.

2. How do you get your money right now? What do you spend it on?

Link Answered before Baldric Anders's first Contract.

I work as a sculptor and metalworker for a local art establishment doing anonymous contracts for them. The job was a lucky break for me since it pays well and neither me or my employer need to communicate much about my progress. I spend most of the money I earn, outside of the bare necessities, on my smithing projects to forge my real passions, swords! I sometimes sell my blades online to enthusiasts which is another way I earn money but it isn't the main way for me. I also spend time traveling around the nation when I have enough spare money and try to provide my aid to other places that need me.

3. Describe your Ambition. What are you striving for? How far would you go to achieve this? Would you kill for it? How close to death would you come for it?

Link Answered before Baldric Anders's first Contract.

I strive to protect the innocent and take down those who wish to cause chaos. I want to make the world a safer place because I have personally experienced just how bad it can get for people. Making the world a safer place will help pave the world for better things. How far will I go? I will do my harm and maim the villains in front me and if they push their luck too much I will kill them. They know what they signed up for when they committed their crimes and if they don't then feigning ignorance isn't a proper excuse. Even if I am bleeding and chocking on blood, I will do my best till my strength gives out.

4. What was the most defining event of your life (before signing The Contract), and how did it change you?

Growing up I was a big fan of superheroes and other big media characters that saved people and spread the message of peace and justice. Well, about when I was thirteen years old me and my parents were walking down a road and decided to cut through an alleyway to catch a train we needed to be on, missing would mean having to wait another day for a new one to arrive or to get a rental car. Walking through the dark alley we were accosted by a gun wielding and unfortunately we lost all our wallets and bags and only had the clothes on our backs. A news article came out that that man killed someone as well. Seeing how defenseless we were and the person they killed was I vowed to one day become someone who’d stop people like that man from having the chance to commit crimes.

5. Name and briefly describe three people in your life. One must be the person you are closest to.

Kyle Kore - My best friend of just over a decade who I can talk to about almost anything. He lived back in the old town we grew up in and refuses to move anywhere else. He is an average height, thing man the same age as me. We both enjoy superhero media.

Joe Johnson - The art gallery curator who employ me to do metal working jobs for the main artist. He is stern but also hands off, meaning so long as I don’t have to talk to him I don’t have anything to worry about. Our relationship is mostly just handing plans sculptures back and forth with money here and there.

Hank Holmes - A detective buddy who lives in an apartment deep in the center of New York City. While it would be expensive, he is needed there so the police core pay for it. He is an honest man who just wants to do the right thing. We work out together sometimes and I can say he is very well built, not as tall but it is rare that anyone is as tall as me.

6. How was your childhood? Who were your parents? What were they like? Did you attend school? If so, did you fit in? If not, why not?

Link Answered after Contract 1, The Gustin Brewery

My childhood was mostly comfortable, I had just about everything I could need which included all of the superhero and shonen content I could have. I was able to get out side and get as strong and charismatic as I could to help act out all of my fantasies.

My parents were and still are good people, my mom being a stay home mother and my father a nuclear engineer. My mom was kind but also frequently distant with her passion for art taking her away as she needed to finish one more project or study another subject. My father was very important and just a busy, being a nuclear engineer is not light work and is therefore under extreme scrutiny. He didn’t take any problems home and was a great father but he was also home very little.

When I wasn’t home I or playing outside, I was at public school, which in our smallish town was led to many of the same people in every class and grade that I had. I didn’t get along with every single person but I did my best to be nice and treat people with care. Not everyone is perfect and I can be the only to rise up to help bring them all to be better together. That mindset made me popular with a lot of people and since I was into sports I was a major name on our football team.

7. Have you ever been in love? With who? What happened? If not, why not?

Link Answered after Contract 1, The Gustin Brewery

I have fallen in love with a good number of women in my life. When I was in high school me and the leader of the cheerleading team, Nina Warrant, were great together and I think if it weren’t for us having differing college preferences we would still be together to this day. In college I had many short term flings with women who caught my eye and thought I was funny and/or attractive enough to date. In the past year I have been more devoted to myself and my vow to be a hero for the people in more ways than the cops can, so in this time I haven’t been with anyone. One day, if I find the right person I might rejoin the dating scene and maybe get married, but until then I will be fully devoted to my ambition.

8. What are your worst fears? Why?

Link Answered after Contract 2, Penner`s Way

When it comes to my fears I try my best to let them bother me that much because I can't be the symbol of peace if I am easily overthrown by fear. This doesn't mean that I am not scared of things but instead it means that I push myself to have the confidence to not faulter and to push ahead into the pit of my personal fears. With that I know this, my fears are as follows:

Death: It is an obvious that I think is shared with all, even those who wish death upon themselves can still be afraid of but just find life more horrifying even if that is quite depressing. Ever since doing the contracts I find myself thinking about this more and more and I think it does worry me more because of what is after death, if there are beings who can move me between time then are there gods as well? It is really quite unnerving.

Guns: It cannot be denied how dangerous they are and every time I have encountered one during a contract it has effectively ensured disastrous results. The only reason I won the last one was for some unknown purpose by the very same person who betrayed me. I just can't understand them. It is also the fear the wielding a gun brings that makes it hard to use, the symbol of piece is not wrote with guns, it can't be.

Not Being Enough: Otherwise known as imposter syndrome, I want to be more than just a regular man doing more than just a 9-5 and having hobbies but every time I go out I seem to fail, there may be times that I succeed but still... Will I actually finally amount to something beyond just normal? I want to be the symbol of peace for all and so I can't stop to to think on this too much, I must keep moving forward.

9. What is (are) your most prized possession(s)? What makes it (them) so special?

Link Answered after Contract 2, Penner`s Way

My most prized possessions have to be my swords, especially the ones that I put the most work into making. I have many blades that I keep just for myself and it is the ones that have a story or a strong emotion tied to them and I can't find myself able to part with them:

Time Spanning Great sword - It joined me on my journey through time back to the 1920s, it cannot travel time but the fact that it was there for my first contract is important and it marked an important moment in time for me as well. I don't know if I'll be able to use it again but it remains on my wall as a reminder.

Backstabbers Bane Backsword - A bit of a mouthful but it gets the point across for me and that is all that I need from it, it holds a a strong reminder that people are now who they say they are all the time, there are people that will get in my way to do what is right for what ever it is that fancies them. For whatever reason they have, it is me who ends up getting cut down.

Blade of Peace - It is a gorgeous great blade that I made awhile back after I finished my training for blacksmithing and it is probably the most beautiful thing I have ever made to date. Light refracts off of it and spreads in all sorts of directions and every splotch of light is iridescent and shines like a rainbow. Until I feel I have done enough justice I can't use it, only then will I feel it is time to wield my ultimate weapon.

10. What is the biggest problem in your life right now?

Link Answered after Contract 3, To Russia With Love

One of the greatest hurdles that I am having to face everyday is the one of not being able to more openly help people with the powers that I have been given. There is so much that I want to do and accomplish but due to the nature of the world, if I step out of line and make too much of a scene and bring too much attention to myself I might find the wrong kind of attention coming my way. Only through these contracts can I become ever more powerful and hopefully (but apparently rarely) find noble people who would be willing to join me in my cause and then maybe together we can unite our collective strengths to take down the evils of the world and become a shining beacon together. Until that day arises I must continue to focus up on the upcoming contracts and try to over come this great problem of mine.

11. Describe a typical morning. How do you get ready to face the world?

Link Answered after Contract 3, To Russia With Love

Depending on if it is the weekend or a week day, I do different things.

On a week day: I get and get ready with a start, I check my phone while I brush my teeth and other stuff, just checking to see if I have something in my email from work that I need to do or if a work order got updated and I have to get a change of parts for the current project. I get my breakfast prepared, usually ham or bacon paired with eggs, and look over my local news which being in New York City gives me a lot to read. After I eat I check my metal stock and swords in my backyard smithing set up, just to look at them for the most part but also so I can remember if I am low with anything. With all of that I check my truck that I use for work and see if there is anything missing there and before I finally head out to work.

On a weekend: With a little bit of a slower rise, I get up and take my time to get ready, I even brush my teeth slower I think, I just like to take my time since there is no need for immediacy. I think Including a shower and all, the time it takes me to get from my bed to dressed for the day (not including breakfast, that's next) is roughly 15 minutes which is like five minutes longer than a normal week day. After that I actually get a protein shake in me before I do a workout, I save breakfast for after so I can really enjoy it. With that I got to my home gym and do whatever the days work out routine, I work out after work on week days so it does change week to week. Finally after the work out I eat breakfast which is another high protein meal, a lot of meat and eggs and then I might splurge with some hashbrowns or pancakes. I can't say exactly what I'll eat for sure before I check my fridge or meal plan.

With all of that, that is my typical morning routine, it isn't glamorous but it's fine enough for me I'm still working my way up to bigger and better things!
