"You keep asking about me. What I want. Are you sure that's what you're interested in? It isn't something that I find very interesting."

"Well. I suppose that I am fascinating!"

Pey grins exposing a beautiful set of perfect white teeth.

 

"I look only to give the people what they want... drama! Excitement! This world is... so different from the endless parties and stories of my home. It's too boring for me. I want there to be more drama. More large-scale confusion. Stronger emotions, bigger fear, more intense loves! "

Pey leans back pulling their clothing tight against their skin. 

"Kill? Sure. Die? I'd rather not... but...."

Pey grins wider. A little unsettling despite the beauty of their face. 

"There are worse things than dying as part of an interesting story."

4. What was the most defining event of your life (before signing The Contract), and how did it change you?

"Oh? Defining you say. What an interesting word."

"Oh fine. Do you want the answer that is likely true, or the one that feels the most true?"

"Oh sweetheart. You dear. Truth is so, so much more complicated than that. Many things can be believed to be true, while not being true. Thing can be partially true. They can be technically true. All this to say that they are half truths. Which, you might think means they must be half lies. If you take enough half lies together, and mix them up, well. You can get pretty close to a real and full lie."

"Oh fine." 

"Probably the most defining moment of my life was when I was given away. Or... Given as payment." 

"Well obviously I don't remember that. Nor do I have any idea how it would have changed me."

"Well, you didn't ask me that did you?"

"Oh, Sam, it was fabulous!"

"Oh, it isn't? Well. Perhaps you could give me your name?"

Pey smirks

"Well, it was worth a shot. Let's see.... It was, bright, chaotic, regimented, lonely, overwhelming, and I felt very loved, hated protected, and in danger from the ones that owned me. My parents left me with the one I called Sam last time we talked."

Pey puts a finger on their lips, looking at the figure in the corner of their room. The person beside them on the bed remains still, sleeping peacefully. 

"You sometimes ask questions that don't fit what you know. I already told you about who raised me Sam. You know that all I know about my parents is that they gave me up."

Pey rolls their eyes.

"Well you didn't ask about my owners, you asked about my parents. Really Sam, keep up. As for fitting in... I was a human in the land of the Fae. Or course I stood out. That was most of the point really."

7. Have you ever been in love? With who? What happened? If not, why not?

"Yes."

Pey flinches. 

"You are getting better at this. Less tricks I can..."

"I'm not avoiding, just..." 

Pey sighs.

"I was in love with one who I don't know the name of. They found me, got permission to borrow me, then showed me the heights of human pleasure, and made me feel the deepest feelings of devotion and love.... Then later they flayed my skin, and broke my heart... Oh don't worry Not Sam, they put me back together again."

Pey twists their face in a smirk.

"That was a rental, not a purchase. It is quite impolite to not clean up after yourself when playing with the toys of others don't you think?"
