Reya grew up with her father and mom on the west side of Grand rapids in a pretty average neighborhood with. She played with the neighbor kids and hung out at there houses. She even had a close friendship with a boy 3 doors down.
Her mom would decorate the whole house every winter and fall and they always made sure to spend time together as a family on holidays.
Now Reya lives in that hole alone. She couldn't bear to leave the place where she lost her parents, and first got the taste of human flesh. She still decorates the house and maintains it so that it is exactly the same as it was before they departed from her life. So that she would never forget.
Between the small inheritance in savings from her parents, Reya is a vet at a small clinic at the edge of town. One of the few things she could still do after the event.
She spends most of her money on a collection of knives and maintaining and paying for her home which has yet to be paid off.
Her knife collection is quite elaborate, but she does have a few favorites, ones she would never let slip from her grasp. The knives she originally had used to butcher her parents, and the other the first knife she had ever bought. Neither are that nice, but both are special to her.
Reya wants to taste the flesh of every living human alive. She holds a strong belief that every time she tastes them she will hold that memory forever. A way to immortalize the memories of everyone.
She would do anything to accomplish this. She would sacrifice her current life, risk her life. She would gladly kill whoever whenever if it serves the purpose of attaining her goal. Doesn't matter if the person she targets is a child, elder, someone she herself cares about. She will succeed or die trying.
The one thing that holds her back is that she will not eat those she deems not to be worth eating. Unpure people, rapists, people who murder without reason, or anyone she deems particularly ugly.
One day, a day like any other, Reya was playing outside in the back yard with her friend. Bryce was climbing a tree and got 25 feet up before slipping and falling. He landed on his head killing him instantly.
Wailing Reya ran back inside to find that another horror had taken place, both her parents where dead. She didn't know why, she couldn't see any injury's. Something had killed silently, and left no mark.
So ok that faithful day, the already troubled child took a bite of her father's forearm and discovered her love of human flesh. And also desire to remember the tastes of all others. That way when they were lost she could remember them.
Bryce and her parents where once the closest people in her life. She cared about her parents just like any child would. And Bryce was a close friend who had been there for her till his untimely death.
Years passed after that before she could really connect with another person. Before someone could look past all the insanity that she was. But eventually one person did. A woman named Kaylee. She ran a vet and shelter a few miles from Reya's house. She initially found a troubled teen trying desperately to save a squirrel which and fallen from a tree.
After telling her it was already gone, Kaylee offered to let Reya help her at the shelter. At first she helped with just the shelter, but Kaylee quickly noticed that Reya had no fear of blood or gore, and she had a impressive knack for biology. So she helped train her into becoming a vet.
After some time she learned of Reya's troubled past.. and her certain dreams. But she accepted her anyway. Although she did tell her to stop eating people, and to get help. Reya did neither, she couldn't.
Reya had a mostly normal child hood. She grew up under her loving parents. Even in spite of all her struggles. At the young age of 5 she was diagnosed with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, And was diagnosed to be a sociopath. Dispite all the odds against them, her parents tried to raise her normally. And they succeeded. Reya did well enough in school, made a few friends even. Even Dispite her mental struggles. She got therapy on a weekly basis. That all was ruined though the night everything changed.
Her parents both died, her friend too. The few people she geniunely had found a way to love. It broke her. She didn't want to forget them. She wanted them to always be with her. So she ate them. It filled the new hole inside her heart and mind and she learned just how much she needed to eat. To remember those who live. She wants to remember everyone she cared about. But also something else took hold In Her mind, a love for the body itself.
Reya had never felt love like how others have described to her. Why would she feel some weird bubbly warmth inside her? That sounds so weird. But she has loved before. A man 3 years older than her once caught her eye. She chased after him for weeks. He ignored her, he was dating someone else he said. But that's not what she wanted from him. He just seemed so appealing, so important. Someone who had to be remembered. So one night she stalked him to his house and killed him. His girlfriend found the corpse. Or what was left of it. They never could link the murder to anyone. Who ever did it knew what they were doing.
Reya only has a few things which she fears, and one of those things has already happened long ago in her past. Both her parents died, her friend died. She lost everything she cared about. But that's the past, now her fears have changed, they are different. She fears forgeting those who are important, those who need be remembered. She fears that she will never find one who is ment to love her. She fears that she will never figure out how to become the thing she is ment to be. For a being who seems so confident, she is riddled with insecurity and questions. She often finds it much easier to answer with lies than to tell the true. The truth is messy and complicated. Lies are simple and easy. They can make someone who would otherwise hate you love you. They can convince someone to do what they normally would not. Its almost like a game really.
But the thing she fears most. She fears that she will geniunely fall in love with someone, and that they will hate her. So under that fear, she wishs to instead immortalize people in their perfect moments, before they can turn on her. Before she can be hurt again.
Reya has a few things that she finds precious. Her daggers are definitely one of them. She has named both daggers, the names came about shortly after the death of her parents. The kitchen knife she wields is named kaylee, and it is the weapon she used to cut up and consume her parents with. The other dagger is named Bryce. A hunting knife that was gifted to her from her father.
Another "possession" she has obtained quite recently is named Orion. A man she started doing contracts with. She has grown quite curious of the man. Not only is very strange, he also eats humans like her. She doesn't quite know what to make of him yet. But she is starting to find that she wants to keep him around for longer. If not only for help on contracts, then to discover more of his identity. Also fixing him sounds like it could be fun. Like molding a baby.
Reya has one major problem right now. She is stuck in a fucking mental institution. The place is practically hell. Like an adult being forced to go back to kindergarten with no control or freedom. The only solice she can find in the situation is that she has access to medical journals and the like.
She has met a few individuals in this place and all of them have had there own sort of issues. There was this group of bullies which were just screwing with everyone else. She delt with them in the gym by just confronting them. She hopes that they at least wont bother her or people in direct vicinity. A way to gain influence over the others and also a reason for them to want to stick around her. She also met Jimmy... Jimmy is special. He likes "math". Although frankly what he does xan hardly be counted because it is so basic.
Before Reya was placed in the institute she had a strong schedule. The first thing that came any morning was to verify that her weapons where all on her, and still safely in their sheaths. Then she gets dressed for the day. This always take a long time. Her appearance is something she cares for closely. Only then, and if she had time, would she eat breakfast. Typically something as simple as cereal. But before she left she always found that she would make time for a sip of blood. It woke her up like nothing else and sent a thrill through her. That feeling never diminished after the first time, and she cant live without it now. But after completing her morning rituals she would leave, either to go to work, or hunt down the next source of human meat. Although typically she didn't have to kill for it. Surprisingly, if you asked the right way, people were willing to do a blood drive for a hundred dollars or two~
Reya always wants to look her best. In fact she can get quite irritable if she is unable to dress properly like what happened at the mental institution. It typically takes her about an hour to get ready. She always has to make sure she is wearing her throwing knifes in a special concealed pocket, although now she has pular which she wears in its ring form. She also has to prepare her make up, which she used to be more particular about. But nowadays, or really ever since she became a contractor, that hasnt been nessiary. Something about becoming imbued just made her that much more beautiful.
Doesn't matter if she is going to work at a mundane job, her current job, a contract. She will always wear the same thing. Her black leather jacket, a cloak, her combat boots, and her clothes are reinforced. Shes always been quite paranoid
Reya always celebrated her birthdays by herself. Back when she lived by herself in her childhood home she would set up the whole house exactly as it usually would appear in her younger days. She would always try to recreate the situations and appearance of the last birthday she remembers, her 5th birthday. The last one before her parents were murdered. But now that she is living in Orions home, she is likely to have a mental break down instead, unable to reproduce the birthday she has held for herself every year since 6th. Of course aside from the birthday in the institute. But they had to deal with mental breaks then too.
Reya would never admit that she regrets something, would never admit that she failed. But her biggest regret is not being there when her parents died. She never got to see them, never got to say goodbye and it haunts her. She never got to see them breath again, never got to hear their final words. But then would she have seen what happened to her friend? Could she of stopped the being who killed them? She doesn't know, she doesnt even care. She would, or so she thinks. But in reality, is that even possible?
Another thing that she is beginning to regret us getting pregnant with some random dudes child. Sure it was hard to find blood, but was this the only option? She doesnt even care about the kid, she will probably just dump at some random orphanage. Although surprisingly she cares enough to not want to eat them.
Reyas powers come from her self image. As she completes contracts, the Harbangers give her more of her dream. The body of a vampire, fangs which drink blood. Anything to become more graceful in her consumption. Anything to be more like the monster she idolizes. Anything to become even greater than those simple things. If anything they are the fake and she is the real. She doesn't want to get bit and turned. She wants to become the real thing, not some lousy persons thrall. And occasionally, when she really strongly wishs to achieve something else, those parts manifest as well. In a way, she is becoming her ideal form, her idolized self. Although she doesnt know that. In her mind she is slowly becoming what she always was. Its just that reality is catching up, letting her loose into reality. Although is that really to far from the truth either?
