Ellie lives in Erie Pennsylvania, not too far off from Lake Erie, one of her favorite places to visit. She originally planned to move to New York after reaching adulthood, but instead settled here, since it was good enough. Better than her old home at least.
She lives in a modest apartment complex. Her home isn't a mess, but it's also not perfect. There's a living room and kitchen combo, a bathroom, and a bedroom, the basics. She fit part of her bedroom with a desk and workplace for her hobbies as well, and put up some sound paneling in that room(the kind that isn't permanent) so she doesn't get sound complaints when she sings.
Ellie currently works at a café called 'Bonjour et au revoir', though most locals shorten it to the BEAR café. This became such a trend that a bear is now used as it's mascot of sorts.
The café mostly specializes in coffee and pastries, as well as some similar breakfast related things.
Most of Ellie's earnings go to her rent, utilities, car, and overall keeping herself afloat while she works on her hobbies.(Most notable one being her amateur singing career.)
She also occasionally buys a good book to read if she happens to find one.(Or she just borrows a couple from her friend.)
Ellie always loved to sing. It was calming in that stressful time in her life. It seemed to calm everyone else too, which was an added bonus.
Her songs often carried her emotions and thoughts, and it made them easier to express. She wants to use them to communicate to others, show them how she feels, how they should feel. She wants to use this talent of hers to inspire the world, to change it for the better.
She thinks that at the very least, her voice can be solace for the broken, a soft embrace for the downtrodden, or rest for the weary. If she could be that, she could be happy with having done her part.
However, she wont kill endlessly for this, if a death can be stopped, she prefers it that way.
Moving away from home was by far the biggest thing she's done so far. She couldn't stand the way her mother let her father do what he wants with no repercussions, especially when her little brother was involved.
She wanted to bring him too, but decided against it, because her father could claim she kidnapped him or some bull like that. So instead she promised that if he ever leaves home, to come find her in New York, the city she dreamed of.
With that, she left, her own person now, freedom never tasted sweeter.
New York was a let down, to put it simply. The posters and videos made it look better than it was. It's real conditions only made her realize how flawed the world is. She settled for a lakeside town in Pennsylvania.
Penny Parson: Closest confidant.
She's a close friend who lives in Ellie's apartment complex. An avid consumer of books and manga, and a trained hair stylist who works at a nearby salon.
She often shares book recommendations(or just her books in general), or invites Ellie over to binge a tv series.
Tim Holloway: Her favorite co-worker by far.
An overall jokester(who still gets his work done for the most part). He's great at making conversation with customers. Says he got that from a couple years in bartending.
Ellie always loves to hear what he has to say, though sometimes he really catches her off guard with a wayward tease.
Carrie Newman: The landlord of her apartment complex.
A nice old lady who doesn't ask for much. And a widow who inherited her husbands property and decided to keep it running.
She's already retirement age, so she doesn't need much money besides what's required to keep the apartment building up and working. Thanks to this, the rent isn't awful.
