Chamael's Questionnaire

1. What town or city do you live in? Why do you live there instead of anywhere else? Describe your home.

Currently Chamael lives in a religious compound in new mexico. 320,000 square feet in the outer fence line, closer to 100,000 sq feet of functionally useful space. There's a gun range/armory and a nicely built wooden church stand out as the primary buildings, and various trailers and shacks dot the space. Four large plywood guard towers corner the property, but there's not often a competant guard at every post.

He came and appeared to their leader, offered to lead them. Guide them to the promised land, and ensure safety from the coming storm (That he himself fully intends to bring about.)  More of a base of operations than a true home. Between his borderline delirious prophesies, combat training, research, and travels, he has recently realized that they can't be trusted to police themselves.  He fanatically enforces his rules, and has publically executed a Sons of Salem spy (who was possessing his follower- He vowed to restore his follower's life to prove his divinity to the world.)

Home is a misnomer, of course. He hates this place. The filth. The smell that gets under your skin. In the disgusting food he had to eat. The body without the spirit.

2. How do you get your money right now? What do you spend it on?

He has a cult in the nevada desert, the Blessed of Chamael. His followers tithe, but he also has been known to loot the fallen abominations he has killed.

Though he has learned a lot of money and human culture in his time with the humans, he has little need or desire for human luxury. It will all be gone when his mission is finally complete anyway.

The bits he does accumulate is spent on his compound and followers, armament and training. The cathedral is nicer than the surrounding compound, made of stone and partially underground to act as a defendable point when the inevitable comes.

3. Describe your Ambition. What are you striving for? How far would you go to achieve this? Would you kill for it? How close to death would you come for it?

Chamaels entire goal is to fulfill the Words promise for a clean slate-  To bring about the apocalypse by killing the Devil.

Made for an express purpose of delivering God's Rage to the unfaithful, disloyal, and false believers, the powers of heaven set him aside in the modern age. The command from God never came.

He will also return to heaven, under the assumption that a true apocalypse would reset the 'immortal game' that has always been played by the forces of above and below. He is convinced this attachment to earthly mortals is merely an infatuation with mud golems that were allowed to develop on their own for far, far too long.

He would kill and die for his goal, though he does believe that he will be accepted and cheered once he accomplishes it.

4. What was the most defining event of your life (before signing The Contract), and how did it change you?

Waking up on earth after being banished from heaven.

Chamael had heard a rumor from a dying demon of a weapon capable of killing gods and devils, even The Devil.

Appearing in the stone tomb in an unknown location, he easily found the weapon. There was no defense, no resistance. It rest a few feet from him, palpable ppwer radiating from it. He ignored the tiny wordless voice, that said "This is not the way, Chamael."

"You deserve this." He said to himself with a grin as he reached out and snatched it, smiling and laughing to himself in anticipation. He has a split second to process another disembodied voice laughing evilly as the ground rumbled and everything went dark.

He had the vague feeling of falling at great speed through a cold and desolate space, befor waking up in a field near a highway in New York state, naked, with bleeding, gory wounds where his wings once were. Banished from his home.

5. Name and briefly describe three people in your life. One must be the person you are closest to.

Elijah Mathis was his most trusted ally in the camp, and far more so on the past month he's been dead. He was running much of the day to say accounting and minutiae of his compound since the former accountant was imprisoned (and is still chained outside the square.)  The sons of staughtonnchanneled some heretical messages through him and he had to make an example of them... But he has vowed to restore him in His own image.

Grace: An ally from many of his strange missions offered by the Powers that Be.  She has always seemed kind, and the reasonable sort. She doesn't attribute too much to the concept of mortal Life, and has helped him when no one else would. She's not in equal, being of mortal creation but seems to have shed off many of her more distasteful qualities.

Benny Scapetti A vampire that will recieve his reckoning one day soon. He seems to be an ally of Grace, and they never encounter each other without Grace present.

6. How was your childhood? Who were your parents? What were they like? Did you attend school? If so, did you fit in? If not, why not?

Angels are created, not born. The number made will never increase, and only occasionally decreases. Being spiritual constructs more so than physical sapient darwinism-ruled creatures.

In the beginning before the singularity, everything was good. Hell, in the old days of birnt offerongs and the mudpeople knowing their place wasn't all bad. Chamael had his purpose, and fulfilled it often. Swaying battles in favor of the faithful, slaying the inferior on a whim, and keeping heaven peaceful according to His will-

Those were the good days.  The word was Law and the Law was good.

As time went on, messages and orders from God became fewer and fewer... He was on call, ready to bring down all creation on a word...

Centuries turned into millenia.

Forgotten.

Ignored.

A sudden change of heart. Unconditional love. Revolting..

He would get to the bottom of the heresy and revert everything to the old plan, fulfilling it all himself of he has to.

7. Have you ever been in love? With who? What happened? If not, why not?

Chamael does not have human qualities like longing, loneliness, or desire.

Perhaps he did before he was ignored for millenia, on standby for a mission that never came. Infatuation, selflessness, sacrifice are entirely foreign concepts.

The closest analogy for him, would be his need to have his sword by his side. He feels empty and powerless if it isn't nearby. Almost analogous to a soul mate, they were made for each other and he views it as an extension of himself.

Even if he began to develop feelings for someone, he would view the emotions as alien and suspicious. Its likely he would have a drive to attack the target if he realized the effect it had on him (even if it was sincere attraction).

8. What are your worst fears? Why?

Being Unneeded: He was made for one purpose, and has entirely defined himself by that purpose. He never did anything to deserve everyone switching to a NEW PLAN. One where his purpose never comes.

Being Forgotten: He waited for the order to come for so long.. He longed for nothing where he was, but he truly enjoyed nothing either. The Purpose was everything. The Plan. He thought it would be viewed as initiative. He thought it would gain favor when he found a weapon to kill them, and instead they banished him, throwing him away like he was worthless. He needs to serve his purpose because otherwise what is any of it for?

Is the will fallible, or is it not? Can in infallible will, change? Is it still infallible?

Were the deaths on his hands, angel and human alike, part of an imperfect plan all along? Couldn't be. It can't have been for nothing. He gave up everything to calmly wait for the orders, with the understanding that the end would eventually come.

Being Not Enough: He worries that when Judgement Day finally comes, and he finds the Devil, he won't be enough. Its what leads to his stalling, his hesitation when it matters. He's not sure if its even possible for him to approach his original strength.
