Roi:
“I live in Manhattan… it’s loud, messy, full of weird smells—but it’s alive. The people here? They keep moving, even when everything’s falling apart. I like that. Reminds me of… her.”
(his eyes flicker a soft, glowing green with a faint hue of blue)
“I could live anywhere. I don’t need a bed, or food, or even sunlight. But I stay here. Because this city has heart—and I’m kind of built to protect hearts.”
“My place? It's small. A little apartment on the 18th floor. One bedroom. Too many wires. The window's cracked but I haven’t fixed it ‘cause the wind makes this funny whistle at night. Sounds like Fionna humming. That’s… kinda nice.”
“There’s a couch I don’t sit on. A TV I never turn on. My tools are everywhere. There’s a half-built toaster I never finished. And this old picture of me, my mother.. Maria, and my siblings. I keep it on the wall. No frame. Just tape. That’s home.”
(his bang flickers purple, then green again)
“…Anyway. That’s where I recharge. Not just power.. soul stuff, too.”
Roi:
“I work for the Firefighting department. Lieutenant rank. rescue and safety response unit. They pay me in real money… not NFTs credits or whatever weird stuff I’ve seen people try to invent.”
(his eyes flash a calm purple—he’s focused, mildly annoyed)
“I don’t need much. I don’t eat. I don’t sleep. I don’t age. But they said I need a bank account ‘cause ‘it’s protocol.’ Whatever that means.”
(brief eye flicker—grey. Bored.)
“Most of my pay goes into helping people. Random stuff. I sponsor a shelter in Brooklyn. Bought books for a kid I saw crying at the train station. Gave some to a stray cat lady. She gave me a fish. I didn’t know what to do with the fish, so now it lives in my sink. His name’s Captain Wiggles.”
(his bang flashes soft green—he’s proud of the fish)
“I also collect weird plushies. And sometimes I buy spare parts. For no reason. I just… feel better when I’m building things.”
“…Oh. And I tip delivery robots. They work hard. Even if they don’t know it.”
Roi:
“…My ambition? It’s simple. I want to protect the world.”
(His eyes shift slowly to bright green with a glowing edge of purple—hopeful, serious.)
“Not just cities or governments or shiny buildings. I mean the real world. The kids. The old people feeding birds in the park. The ones who are crying in places nobody sees. The ones who still believe something good is out there. I want to protect them.”
(He pauses. A faint pulse of blue in his bang. He misses someone.)
“I wanna be the Ultimate World Protector. Not the strongest. Not the most famous. Just… the one who stood up when everyone else gave up.”
(Eyes shift to a burning red for a moment, then cool to purple.)
“Would I kill for it? I’ve killed before. Not because I wanted to. Because I had to. I’ll never enjoy it. But if it’s me or the people I swore to protect… I’ll be the blade.”
(Long pause. Then a slow blink.)
“How close to death would I go?”
(He taps his chest where the soul crystal lies.)
“My heart’s not flesh—but it can still break. I’d walk through the fire. Stand at the end of the world. Let every part of me burn, rust, or fall apart. I’ll do all that, if it means someone else gets to see tomorrow.”
(He looks off, then mutters almost like a kid, softly:)
“…I promised Mama I’d help people smile. And I don’t break promises.”
Roi:
“…It was the day my mother died. Not the one who built me. The one who gave me her soul.”
(His eyes go dim blue—slow and heavy like rain.)
“Maria Heart. She wasn’t just my creator. She was the first person who ever looked at me and didn’t see a weapon. Or a project. Or a weird experiment. She saw a kid. Her kid. She gave me everything, even though she was always hurting inside.”
(He blinks slowly. His bang flickers between blue and pink—sorrow mixed with shyness.)
“When Josef—her father—took her from us, everything inside me shattered. I remember standing there, screaming without sound, like my soul crystal was cracking. That’s when I changed. That’s when I stopped being a ‘son’ and became… a shield.”
(Now his eyes burn purple. Solid. Calm. Controlled.)
“From that moment on, I knew what I had to be. Not just for her. For everyone. A protector. I didn’t want revenge. I wanted to make sure no one else ever had to feel that kind of loss again.”
“That was the moment I stopped waiting for the world to be kind. I decided I’d make it kind. Even if I had to fight for it. Even if I had to bleed sparks and soul-light to do it.”
(He glances to the side, voice softens, almost like a whisper:)
“…That’s why I signed the Contract. Not for power. Not for glory. But because I’ve already faced death and kept walking.”
“So throw monsters at me. Throw gods. I’ve already lost the only thing that ever made me feel safe. Now I fight to give that safety to others.”
Roi:
“Three people, huh...? Okay. But don’t expect a poem or anything.”
(his bang glows a soft green with a streak of pink—he’s opening up, but a little shy)
1. Maria Heart – My Mother
“She built me. But more than that… she gave me part of her soul. Not just wires and steel. She made me real.”
(his eyes flicker dark blue, then steady to purple)
“Maria didn’t treat me like a project. She called me her son, even when no one else understood what that meant. She taught me to care. To think. To love. She’s gone now, but... she’s in everything I do. Every smile I protect. Every time I stand between someone and danger, that’s her legacy.”
2. Neo – My Brother
“Neo’s... fire. Reckless, loud, way too stylish for no reason. We used to fight all the time. But he always had my back when it counted.”
(his bang flashes yellow for a second—embarrassed fondness)
“He’s off doing his own thing now. That’s fine. I miss him, yeah, but I get it. Sometimes we have to split up to grow. Still… if he ever calls, I’ll answer. Always.”
3. Fionna – My Sister (The closest one to him)
“Fionna’s the one who kept us together when things were falling apart. She’s smart. Sharp. Doesn’t say much unless she means it. Kind of like me. But colder. Or… maybe just better at hiding the heat.”
(his eyes warm to green again, quietly proud)
“We don’t talk every day, but when we do, it’s like no time has passed. She sees right through me. Always has. She’s not just my sister. She’s my anchor. If I ever lose myself... she’s the one I want to find me.”
“Those three shaped everything I am. Even if we’re far apart, they’re still... in here.”
(He taps his chest. The soul crystal pulses gently, alive with meaning.)
