Giles lives in Portland, Oregon on the second floor of an apartment complex in a two bedroom space. He originally comes from a town that was an hour west of Euguen, Oregon. However this town no longer exists. His home is decorated like most homes, simple but flattering decor, a small house plant on the corner table, paintings hung on walls. His living room holds his desk where he works on whatever assignment the city hands him for the week. His bedroom contains a simple queen size bed in the middle, above his bed hangs a picture of of him at the orphanage where he was raised, surrounded by the staff and a crowd of young children that lived there. Next to his bed lies a bedside table with a book by Sylvia Plath on it. In the other room across from his bedroom lies a dark chaotic space. Hundreds of papers stapled to the walls with scribbles of supernatural looking text and symbols. Drawings of creatures in all shapes and forms are sprawled across the floor. Hundreds of books on the occult, demonology, folk lore, and magic are found all over the room. A picture lies in the center of the room. It depicts a large pentagram in a circle of runes, it appears to be burned into the ground. Candles are the only thing illuminating the room. The door remains locked when the room is not in use.
Giles currently works as a social worker for the City of Portland. He mainly handles cases involving community issues but occasionally accepts cases directed towards familial or individual issues. He saves his money for the most part but when he chooses to spend it he'll treat himself to a nice dinner or buy a new collectible from one of his favorite medias. When he does save up his money he chooses to buy books on demons and the occult. It's what most of his money goes to, besides rent. He uses these books to further his research and increase his investigation.
Giles's home town has been destroyed and forgotten. He originally came from a town known as "Bellevue". However after a run in with an ancient book, the town was destroyed and erased from history. After the incident Giles has been trying to uncover the truth behind the incident. What happened to his town and the people in it. Why no one in the neighboring towns could remember its existence. Giles blames himself for the destruction of his town. He is plagued by nightmares of the incident and is feels the weight of his guilt on his shoulders every day. The guilt of possibly having killed all the townspeople, all the orphans he murdered. All the families erased from history. He vows to never rest until he can find out what truthfully happened. He'll do what it whatever it takes to find the people he made disappear, or at least whats left of them. He'll do it even if he loses his humanity or his life.
After Giles discovered an ancient book in an old mine shaft, he decided to take it back to his office at the orphanage he was raised in, which he now worked in. Hours of trying to decipher it, intrigued by its design of a knight with a pointed helmet on the cover. Now driven by curiosity he decided to mimic the drawings in the book. After setting up a circle of chalk as similar as he could to the one in the book he began chanting the words in the book to the best of his ability. As he finished speaking the last word, the circle suddenly began illuminating a dark violent red. Chains proceeded to sprout from the ground and wrapped around Giles, holding him to the floor. A knight with a pointed helmet appeared before him, towering over him. The knight proceeded to take off it's helmet, its face was that of a monster. Eight eyes covered its face, no mouth to be found, it's skin was a blueish pale color with the texture of a burn victim. Long purple hair flowed from its head, seemingly blown by a non existent wind. The knight, no, The Abomination approached him. It placed its helmet on Giles's head then took out a blade and slit his throat open. It stung terribly, it burned, it felt as if his throat was just engulfed with the flames of the devil himself but despite all the pain no blood fell from the wound. The Abomination turned around and in a deep grizzly voice spoke "For the Prince." The sky darkened, a loud thundering crack was heard, the town was engulfed in flames. The ground crumbled beneath the town. Starting at the edge of the town it began to cave in, the collapsing ground making it's way to the orphanage, to Giles. As the town was swallowed all Giles could hear was the screams of terror of all its inhabitants falling into the pit. Through the holes in the helmet Giles could see a deathly red glow emanating from the outside of the building, tears ran down his face. He felt powerless to stop it all. Just as the ground beneath Giles gave through he lost consciousness. He awoke in a large empty clearing of dirt, the town had vanished. His neck burned. He reached at his throat and felt a deep long scar hot to the touch. He felt guilt, he didn't know where the town went, all its people. Hell he didn't even know if they were alive. He cried and tried to scream but only a soft weak wheeze came out. He steeled his will and wiped his tears clean. He vowed to never forget what had happened, to bring the town back. He was now determined to find the truth. To make amends for his mistake and to restore his people.
The most important person in Giles's life currently is Tyler. A young orphaned boy currently in foster care. Giles cares for Tyler's cases deeply. Giles's guilt for the town incident remains and taking care for Tyler feels as a sort of penance for his mistake. Giles makes sure to check in with Tyler and spends time with him as he feels responsible for him. He cares deeply for Tyler as Tyler reminds Giles of his childhood friend Amelia. Amelia was raised in the orphanage alongside Giles, they spent most of their time together. Amelia was a very mischievous kid, constantly pranking the workers at the orphanage and dragging Giles into the mischief. Tyler was similar in that regard, he would constantly get into trouble for messing with his foster parents. Amelia and Giles spent much time together, almost every free moment they had was spent with each other. Ask anyone about Giles or Amelia and they'd say they were spotted with the other every time. They built a deep connection over the years and an even deeper one for the orphanage. Amelia grew to work as a caregiver in the orphanage, Giles became a social worker in order to work along side her. The third person Giles cared deeply for was the orphanage director Charlotte. Every time Giles and Amelia got in trouble Charlotte was always there to bust them out. Over time Charlotte became more of a mother figure to Giles than anything. She would always give him advice on his issues no matter how trivial they may have been. She always took time to check in with him and took great care with his cases. Giles was always inspired by her to be and do better. To give back to the community, the people that raised him. He didn't become a social worker just to work alongside Amelia but to also take Charlotte's position one day. So that Charlotte may retire knowing the community would be left in great hands.
