Bobby Marietta was one of those unfortunates that was given a poor hand, and played that hand badly. Abused as a child, he became a bully to others, and destroyed a lot of children's lives with his unforgiving brutality. Eventually getting caught by his father, who tried to beat him for it, Bob turned his rage onto the older man. Lashing out both physically and verbally, the punishment for his actions was to be beaten severely, and to have his mouth washed out with soap. Not the brightest tool in the shed, Bobby's father used an acidic cleaning agent, which sent Bobby to the hospital.
Bobby's father was arrested for child abuse, his mother arrested due to willful neglect, and drug use, and Bobby was left in the hospital with burnt out vocal cords trying to cling to a life he no longer wanted. News of this reached the students at school who he had been bullying, and they went to his hospital room, forcing him to listen to the stories of what his abuse had caused them over the years. Truly broken, inside and out, when Bobby finally did return to school, he had changed. Instead of being the bully, he allowed those he bullied to take their revenge. He would goad those who were too scared to do it on their own. He made himself the target of other bullies to keep them from harming others and allow them to take out their rage on him. While he was a good fighter, he never took it out on others. He used it instead to angle into ways that would help him take a beating longer.
When he got older, he tried to find a place that he could belong, while still carrying on his role as the world's punching bag. He took on the roll of a clown at a local carnival and used his goading techniques on some of the guests, one of whom lost control and hit him. It was then that he got the idea. He stopped the man, who was apologizing for his outburst, and indicated that if he gave him a dollar, it would be considered ok, and that if he gave him another dollar, he could do it again. The carnival was not okay with this, and he was quickly fired, but Bobby had found his calling. Taking classes as a Mime, Bobby, now going by Punch Bag Bob, made a living taking money for hits.
