Born to Chinese-american immigrants, Haicho has always felt a calling to machines. Cars, guns, air-conditioning, plumbing, robotics. The idea of making life easier for people appeals to him greatly. Being very reserved, it was a great surprise to his family when he joined the military, but still welcome.
After a few years in the Army's corps of engineers, he used the financial incentives to get a degree in mechanical engineering and begin work as an engineer for several companies, upgrading their existing systems as best he could. The work was very lucrative and he was perfectly set up to live his life as needed, buying whatever little toys he wanted, normally guns to practice marksmanship as a hobby, a callback to his soldering days.
Although now that he's nearing the end of his first third of life, he wonders if he can do MORE for people. Somewhat fed by his love of machines, he took an interest in transhumanism, the use of technology to improve everything, even humanity itself. Through this his interest in politics grew, and he saw more and more the plight of the common people. Poverty, pollution, abuse at the hands of those in power. To make the world of better place would require more than just some smarts and hard work.
His ambitions turned darker: weapons stockpiles, battle plans...when he started considering possible targets he became terrified of himself. "Is this worth it? What if I'm wrong?" As if sensing his reservations, his life took a wild turn.
