The Inuit people wait for a child to show the characteristics that befit their name. This is in tandem with a surname, something that nowadays is necessary to satisfy the government's reach over the most southern peoples. Nanook had a surname, once, but the sprouting young man grew out of it - the only name that could capture the breadth of the hulking giant was his own - walking quietly, then thundering forwards with a roar.
