Ulysses is a Genwyld Imprisoned Test Subject who will risk his life to become the ultimate Cockatrice Hybrid and reshape GenWyld into an ethical organization (free their prisoners, end their shady projects, etc.).

He is 23 years old, lives in A padded cell inside a GenWyld dark site and laboratory, and often appears as A black haired young man with blue eyes. His hands, which he normally keeps concealed inside of gloves, are birdlike talons. His skin is flecked with stone here and there. His face has entirely stone skin. He’s a bit of a stonefaced fellow.

Movement

Movement is taken immediately before OR after your Action. It cannot be split.
You may Free Move (0) feet. Minimum 5 feet.
You may Dash up to an additional (0 feet).
- Dashing penalizes your Action -1 die per 5 feet.
All-out Sprint: instead of using free Movement or Dash, you may spend your Action and roll Brawn + Athletics ( dice) Difficulty 6. You move (0 + (Outcome x 5) Feet).

Actions

Attack with your weapon or hands.
Evade by rolling to Defend or Dodge. Your Outcome is "spent" to reduce the Outcome of any incoming attacks until your next Action.
Activate a Power or use an Ability as normal.
Hold your Action by declaring an Action and a triggering event. If the event occurs before your turn on the next Round, you perform the Action.

If you have not yet spent your Action this Round, you may use it as a Reaction.

Reactions

Dodge by rolling Dexterity + Athletics ( dice) Difficulty 6. Your Outcome is subtracted from the attacker's.
Defend with your weapon by rolling its attack roll. Your Outcome is subtracted from the attacker's. Availability depends on weapon match-up (tap/hover).
Clash with the attacker using the same roll you would use to Defend. The higher Outcome (not contested) is treated as the result of a successful, undefended attack roll against the loser.

Desperate Defense

If you have already used your Action, you may Exert your Mind to perform a Reaction. Your next Round's Action receives a -2 dice penalty. You cannot Clash as a Desperate Defense or React more than once to a given Action.

Will to Survive

Once per Contract, you may reduce the severity of an incoming Injury up to 5 Severity levels (to a minimum of Severity 5). You also take a point of Mind Damage and suffer a Battle Scar as normal.

If an attack's Outcome is positive after defense, it results in a new Injury with Severity = Outcome + Weapon damage - Armor

Stabilization is the Injury's main treatment, and each Injury can only be successfully Stabilized once

Unstabilized Injuries worsen by 1 Severity level every half hour

Proper Stabilization

Requires an advanced first aid kit for Severity 4 Injuries, a surgery setup for Severity 5 Injuries, and a surgery theater for Severity 6+ Injuries.

Roll Intellect + Medicine, Difficulty equal to Severity

An Outcome of 1 or greater will Stabilize the Injury and stop its degradation.
Outcome 4+ puts the Injury on track to heal clean: its Battle Scar heals with it.
On a Botch, the Injury's Severity increases by 1.
Failed or Botched attempts may be re-attempted at +1 Difficulty per failure.

Makeshift Stabilization

Attempt a major treatment using insufficient or improvised medical equipment.

Roll Intellect + Medicine, Difficulty > Severity

Outcome 1+ will Stabilize the Injury and stop its degradation.
However, any Outcome less than 4 increases the Injury’s Severity by 1. Botches also worsen its Battle Scar if it caused one.
Regardless of Outcome, any Battle Scars caused by the Injury will persist after it is fully healed.
Failed or Botched attempts may be retried at +1 Difficulty per failure.

Self-stabilization attempts are rolled at +1 Difficulty.

Wormwood You have been exposed to Wormwood gas If you die, you return to life as a mindless, flesheating zombie in a few Rounds. You count as Undead, recover all previous injuries, & you will not stop attacking until you receive a called shot to the head dealing at least a Severity 4+ wound or receive an appropriate Battle Scar. You mindlessly attack any living thing you can see. You have "0" Mind but suffer no penalties for it. The GM may direct your character or allow you to do so. The GM will decide if any Gifts you have are still functional as an Undead.

Biography

Ulysses is a GenWyld test subject, a hybrid human with Cockatrice DNA. He is kept in a DarkSite off of the public grid, and is effectively a prisoner. He has named himself Ulysses after one of the few books they allowed him to read in his life of captivity. Most of the labcoats still call him “4”.
