A Newbie Contractor played by foodoman in The Void

Akia is a Crossbow Sniper who will risk her life to become a vigilante and end injustice.

She is 18 years old, lives in the ruins of a factory outside of Detroit, and often appears as a lady in a potato sack with a cross bow over her shoulder.

Movement

Movement is taken immediately before OR after your Action. It cannot be split.
You may Free Move (0) feet. Minimum 5 feet.
You may Dash up to an additional (0 feet).
- Dashing penalizes your Action -1 die per 5 feet.
All-out Sprint: instead of using free Movement or Dash, you may spend your Action and roll Brawn + Athletics ( dice) Difficulty 6. You move (0 + (Outcome x 5) Feet).

Actions

Attack with your weapon or hands.
Evade by rolling to Defend or Dodge. Your Outcome is "spent" to reduce the Outcome of any incoming attacks until your next Action.
Activate a Power or use an Ability as normal.
Hold your Action by declaring an Action and a triggering event. If the event occurs before your turn on the next Round, you perform the Action.

If you have not yet spent your Action this Round, you may use it as a Reaction.

Reactions

Dodge by rolling Dexterity + Athletics ( dice) Difficulty 6. Your Outcome is subtracted from the attacker's.
Defend with your weapon by rolling its attack roll. Your Outcome is subtracted from the attacker's. Availability depends on weapon match-up (tap/hover).
Clash with the attacker using the same roll you would use to Defend. The higher Outcome (not contested) is treated as the result of a successful, undefended attack roll against the loser.

Desperate Defense

If you have already used your Action, you may Exert your Mind to perform a Reaction. Your next Round's Action receives a -2 dice penalty. You cannot Clash as a Desperate Defense or React more than once to a given Action.

Will to Survive

Once per Contract, you may reduce the severity of an incoming Injury up to 5 Severity levels (to a minimum of Severity 5). You also take a point of Mind Damage and suffer a Battle Scar as normal.

If an attack's Outcome is positive after defense, it results in a new Injury with Severity = Outcome + Weapon damage - Armor

Injuries Severity 4+ cause a Battle Scar or Equipment destruction and always require Stabilization

Stabilization is the Injury's main treatment, and each Injury can only be successfully Stabilized once

Unstabilized Injuries worsen by 1 Severity level every half hour

Proper Stabilization

Requires an advanced first aid kit for Severity 4 Injuries, a surgery setup for Severity 5 Injuries, and a surgery theater for Severity 6+ Injuries.

Roll Intellect + Medicine, Difficulty equal to Severity

An Outcome of 1 or greater will Stabilize the Injury and stop its degradation.
Outcome 4+ puts the Injury on track to heal clean: its Battle Scar heals with it.
On a Botch, the Injury's Severity increases by 1.
Failed or Botched attempts may be re-attempted at +1 Difficulty per failure.

Makeshift Stabilization

Attempt a major treatment using insufficient or improvised medical equipment.

Roll Intellect + Medicine, Difficulty > Severity

Outcome 1+ will Stabilize the Injury and stop its degradation.
However, any Outcome less than 4 increases the Injury’s Severity by 1. Botches also worsen its Battle Scar if it caused one.
Regardless of Outcome, any Battle Scars caused by the Injury will persist after it is fully healed.
Failed or Botched attempts may be retried at +1 Difficulty per failure.

Self-stabilization attempts are rolled at +1 Difficulty.

Lizard Brain You are so unintelligent, you're accustomed to acting on instinct alone. As long as your Intellect rating is 1, being reduced to 0 Mind does not Incapacitate you. Stress still applies in full.

Cat-Eyes Your eyes catch the light in the dark like a cat or dog's, granting low-light vision. You suffer no penalty to rolls in low-light situations. You cannot see in pitch blackness.

Biography

Who is the Birdman?

Actual name and age is unknown, Akia never heard it spoken at home. She didn't know about him until the fateful night he attack and killed Akia's family.

That night Akia witnessed some of the Birdman's abilities. The Birdman started his attack with a murder of crows flying in through all the windows, and entering through the front door.

Birdman then proceeded to kill all the members of Akia's family starting with the oldest, and going to the youngest. Akia was the youngest. During the attack, in addition to the crows, the Birdman seemed to manipulate reality. Walls would visibly disappear, but you could still run into them. It was only blind luck Akia smashed through the back door, and put into the yard, beyond Birdman's influence.

Any other abilities are currently unknown, other than a knack for tracking targets.
