Crafted Artifact

Church of unity Pamplet

Created and held by Nathan Brown.
Currently Destroyed.
A pamphlet talking about the church of unity

Paper pamphlets designed to advertise whatever you want, but once it is passed on, it continues to listen in.

Exert your Mind and spend an Action to activate. Select a target within 10 feet. You must remain within 1000 feet of your ward to access its senses.

You place a ward, which is fixed to a target Object that can be moved and repositioned. You can hear through the ward as though you were standing at its location. You may have at most 3 wards running at once.

The ward requires Concentration to monitor, though it will remain active until you deactivate it. It can be detected with a roll and destroyed through mundane means.

  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.

Community Artifacts

Necklace Bead

Created by Cercyon Vulcanus, given to Devonia.
Currently Destroyed.
A Matte blue bead that is attached to a necklace.

Hammer

Created and held by Dylan 'Dill' Parker.
A beat up shotgun covered in dents and scratch marks from tiny claws

The shotgun almost shudders with anticipation at the thought of spilling rodent blood.

This Artifact can be used as a shotgun. It is roughly the same size as a shotgun and just as difficult to conceal.

Attack by rolling Dexterity + Firearms, Difficulty 6. Successful attacks deal Contested Outcome +5 Weapon Damage.

You also gain the following effects:

  • Bane: Injuries dealt to rats and ratlike entities are increased by 2 Severity levels.
  • Infinite Ammo: This weapon never runs out of its standard ammunition.

  • Reminder: additional Weapon Damage granted by this Effect does not stack with any other bonus to Weapon Damage. Instead the largest bonus is used.
  • Rifles are +1 Difficulty to use in melee range. Sniper Rifles are +3 Difficulty to use without a tripod or in melee range. Setting up a tripod takes an Action.

Ring of the Soldier of God

Created by Johnny Fontaine, given to Frank Russo.
A silver ring with the an inscription on the inside in a forgotten language. The ring has a slot filled by a strange looking ruby.

A portal opens in front of the user which vanishes as quickly as it appears after spewing a Guardian Angel.

The creature looks like a old depiction of humanoid angels, dressed elegantly but seemingly without mind or morals.

Exert your Mind and spend an Action.

Summon a single Sapient Angel at your location. They last for two hours or until they are destroyed. They are controlled by the GM but will follow any commands you give. This Artifact may have at most one active at a time.

  • Initiative: Minions act directly after you in Combat starting the Round after they are summoned.
  • Combat: Minions roll 4 dice to dodge, Grapple, or make Unarmed Attacks. Their unarmed Attacks are melee range and deal +0 Damage.
  • Body/Mind: Minions have 5 Body. Your minions roll 3 Mind resistance dice.
  • Armor: Minions have 2 Armor.
  • Movement: Minions can move 25 feet per Round as Free Movement and double that when performing an all-out Sprint. Your minions can fly at their normal movement speed.
  • Intelligence: Minions have human-level intelligence and can speak your language. They can use equipment, Artifacts, and Consumables. However, they cannot Exert their Mind.
  • Actions: Any Perception checks they make are rolled with 4 dice. If ordered to protect someone with its life, your Minion may sacrifice itself to absorb an Attack on their behalf, provided it is within 15 feet of them. Any other roll is made with 4 dice. They can lift and haul as though they have 2 Brawn.
  • Unusual: Minions are obviously Alien to any observer.

  • Minions die if targeted with Energy Transfer (before the Effect resolves) or if an Artifact or Consumable they use would Injure them or cause them to roll Trauma.
  • Your minions may count as additional targeting types based on their flavor. For example: Living, Computer, Creature, etc.

The Silver Ring of Gyges

Created by Vel, given to Ware.
A ring of Silver. It has elvish inscribed on it. Along with a small engraving of an arrow. Matching to The Maiden. There is an additional Elvish inside. The phonetic pronunciation of Edith

The artifact, a ring of metal, shimmers slightly, spreading a mist that hides the user slowly disappear into nothing as its user rubs the inscription along the artifact. A bit of Elvish from J.R.R. Token, but saying something different.

"Keep me secret, keep me safe"

Vel made this artifact with a ritual pulling on the long history of legends of artifacts of invisibility.

The ring of Gyges is the first, and the one Vel picked the name for
The second is the helm of hades, the source of the mist that powers the effect.
The last, and the most well known, the one ring, and tempered by the other two stories

Vel starts by casting the metal for the base of the artifact, typically a ring. As Vel does so they tell extracts of the story of the ring of Gyges

Vel then lets the ring cool, surrounding it in steam as they talk about the stories of the helm of hades.

Vel finally carves in elvish the words into the ring. The patterns are common enough that the ring looks recognizable as something akin to the one ring, drawing power from people's conception of that. The specifics of the wording serve as another specific bit of meaning, anchoring the power of the ring in the point of time when the ring was harmless, and connecting it to the other 2 stories of less malevolent effects.

Notes:

[So my thought process for this is that the most well known ring of invisibility and symbol of invisibility is the ring from Lord of the Rings.

When trying to impart an effect, Vel doesn’t want to make a ring that destroys lives and minds. So, the other stories, and the words in elvish are a way of anchoring the power Vel gets from the big story, pulling the other stories of similar tools, and using them to divert the effects the one ring is supposed to have.

I could probably switch to just the Greek stories to make it a little cleaner, but I think if you are making a ring of invisibility using the cultural understanding of rings of invisibility, you need to address the one ring, or it will slip in.]

Exert your Mind and spend an Action.

You and everything you are carrying is obscured in one of the following manners. Lasts one minute.

  • Sight:You are completely obscured from sight. All attempts to detect you via sight fail. Attempts via other senses where sight would assist are rolled at -2 dice.

While this Effect is active, any Effect that would obscure you or your equipment specifically from other, additional senses fails automatically.

If someone discovers you, this Effect will not help you hide from them for the next minute. Activating a targeted or obvious Effect, attacking, or being Injured ends the Effect. When the Effect ends, it is disabled for one minute.

  • GMs should use their discretion when determining the exact impacts of this Effect, particularly in conjunction with environmental factors. Standing still against a complex background may render you impossible to detect, and footprints in snow may make it easy. A chance to detect you is not guaranteed.

Jeremy's Glass Eye

Created by Jeremy Wesley, looted by Grace Cyanide.
This Glass Eye was crystal blue, but now is foggy from it's time below the sea. It may have a barnacle on it.

When Grace activates Jeremy's eye, it causes spirits to possess the device - this results in spirits visibly entering the device & running amok.

Exert your Mind and spend 2 Actions. Select a Device within 20 feet. Can be used on Alien technology. Roll Intellect + Technology, with the Difficulty set by the GM depending on the security of the system you are hacking. Sapient targets can resist by rolling Mind at Difficulty 6.

If you succeed, you may issue a single command to the targeted system. This command must have a specific outcome or be a request for specific login credentials. The command you issue must be within the machine's current capabilities. For example, you cannot order a standard security camera to grow legs and walk around.

You may issue a "self-destruct" command that leaves the hacked system's hardware inoperable, even if that machine had no such functionality previously. Only works on Computers.

Your command does not have to take effect immediately. Instead, upon a successful Hack, you may specify a condition under which the specified command is issued or simply suspend the Command until you desire to activate it.

If your command does not require bypassing the security of the target (for example, typing on a computer that is unlocked), you do not need to Exert your Mind to activate this Effect, and activation only takes a single Action.

Your Hack cannot be reversed through mundane means for a number of hours equal to your Outcome.

When targeting non-computer devices, you may operate switches, buttons, dials, levers, and latches.

Every hack you make leaves behind the machine is obviously Haunted in some way in the system as a personal "calling card" that informs anyone who uses the system that the hack occurred.

  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.

The eye sparks & sputters, leaving an imprint from which Grace can extend her senses. Grace can communicate through it at will.

Exert your Mind and spend an Action. Select a Location within 10 feet.

You place a ward, which is fixed to its initial location. You can perceive with all your senses through the ward as though you were standing at its location. This Artifact may have at most 3 wards active at once.

The ward requires Concentration to monitor, though it will remain active until you deactivate it. It can be detected with a roll and destroyed through mundane means.

You may destroy the Ward to activate one Investigate Individual, Object, or Area Effect as though you were standing at its location.

You may communicate through your ward, though doing so will reveal its presence.

  • Full Spectrum: This investigation Effect is as obvious as it would normally be. The Effect is targeted as though you were standing at the location of the Ward. You must pay all activation costs and satisfy all activation requirements of the Effect.
  • Your ward cannot be used to satisfy the line of sight requirement for targeted Effects.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.

The Wolves of Wall Street do not obey Grace, & will attack whomever they wish...typically the poor.

Exert your Mind and spend an Action. You must use up Cash or similar currency in order to activate this Effect.

Summon up to 5 Non-Sapient, Animate A Pack of Spectral Wolves at your location. They last for two hours or until they are destroyed. They are controlled by the GM, do not follow orders, and only act to further Greed & Avarice. This Artifact may have at most 5 minions active at a time.

  • Initiative: Minions act directly after you in Combat.
  • Combat: Minions roll 7 dice to dodge, Grapple, or make unarmed Attacks. Their Attacks are melee range and deal +5 Damage.
  • Body: Minions have 9 Body.
  • Armor: Minions have 4 Armor.
  • Movement: Minions can move 25 feet per Round as Free Movement and double that when performing an all-out Sprint.
  • Intelligence: Minions have dog-level intelligence and cannot communicate back to you. They cannot actively use Equipment.
  • Actions: Any Perception checks they make are rolled with 4 dice. They can lift and haul as though they have 4 Brawn.
  • Unusual: Minions are obviously Alien to any observer.

  • Your minions may count as additional targeting types based on their flavor. For example: Living, Computer, Creature, etc.

When Jeremy dies his conciousness will uploaded into his prostetic eye where he can obtain a second life. He does not hope this will ever occur.

This Effect activates whenever Triggered on death. It does not require an Action or Exertion.

You transform into ________ for one minute. While transformed, you cannot move or take Actions, and you cannot perceive your surroundings. You can be targeted as a Non-Living, Sapient Object.

If you are damaged while transformed, the damage is realized when you return to normal. If you are damaged before you transform, your inanimate form will appear partially damaged.

Coded script rolls over the glass eye, calculating distance before folding space to deliver the wielder to a location they can see. Works especially well through placed Wards -

Exert your Mind and spend 2 Actions. Select a Location within your line of sight. Roll a single D10 as a critical failure check. If you roll a 1, the Effect fails, and you Miss the Landing (Severity 4 or Off Target).

You are transported directly to the chosen Location. You must wait 1 full Round before activating this Effect again.

You may also Exert your Mind and spend an Action to Travel in a random direction without any knowledge of an endpoint or destination. Roll Intellect + Technology at Difficulty 6 to safely arrive without any consequences.

  • The consequences of a failed aiming roll on a Random Hop are at GMs discretion, but could include Battle Scars, serious Injuries, or traveling into a significantly dangerous location.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.

While wielding the Glass Eye, Grace's senses are VASTLY enhanced, seeing the warmth of the living, penetrating all darkness, & doing so up to two miles away.

Jeremy's greed is also carried over with the eye, & Grace finds it easy to find hidden valuables like a little magpie.

You gain the following benefits as long as you are wearing this Artifact.

Your senses are enhanced in the following way.

  • Sight: You can see perfectly in dark and even pitch-black environments. You suffer no dice penalty due to darkness.
  • Sight: You can see things that are up to a mile away as though you were only standing twenty feet away, provided your view is unobstructed.
  • Thermal: You are able to "see" heat signatures within your line of sight.
  • Touch: You can identify any material with a touch and immediately find what you are looking for when rummaging, assuming it is actually present. You may withdraw items from your bags with a Quick Action instead of an Action.

Any senses which have been heightened cannot be overloaded. Battle Scars you receive cannot affect these senses.

  • Examples of overloading a sense include: an explosion causing temporary deafness, a bright light causing blindness, a sedative causing numbness, etc.
  • Your thermal vision allows you to judge temperatures of surfaces fairly accurately as long as they are within livable temperatures.
  • “Rummaging" means digging through trash, finding a needle in a haystack, etc.

Jeremy's residual aura of authority may be commanded to give orders - those under command will follow Grace's EXACT commands, in an obvious & unusual manner.

Exert your Mind and spend at least one Action. Select a Sapient target within 20 feet. Your target may be actively engaged in Combat. Communicate a command to your target. Roll Charisma + Influence at Difficulty 6. The target may resist by rolling Mind at Difficulty 7.

If the contested Outcome is positive, your target will be compelled to follow your command to the letter-- but not necessarily the spirit-- of the command until they have completed it or for your Contested Outcome in hours. You cannot issue another suggestion to the target until 10 minutes after they have completed the first command or 10 minutes after a failure.

They will be unaware that they are under any sort of compulsion until the effect wears off, but they will appear obviously mind-controlled the entire time to anyone observing them. If you fail, they realize that you were attempting to influence them supernaturally with your command.

Your command can be an order to take an immediate Action, a conditional request, and an abstract goal. You cannot order a target to "do nothing," and they are free to take other Actions as they fulfill your request. Your command cannot be obviously self-destructive. Commands may force a target to violate one of their Limits, and they will need to make a Trauma roll once the suggestion wears off.

  • You cannot order your target to endanger themselves, but you may order them to flee, attack a certain target, take a defensive or offensive stance, or similar.
  • The target must be able to understand you and must receive your communication for the suggestion to work.
  • Allowed Commands
    • Conditional Request: implants a triggered response or latent order. (e.g. "when you see your mom, give her a kiss" or "when I give the signal, strip naked and pretend you're possessed by the devil.")
    • Abstract Goal: You command can be general or abstract, leaving the details of how your target achieves it up to them. (e.g. “crash your company's stock price" or "help me find the nearest vampire.")
    • Direct Order: The target must take an immediate action (e.g. “Sit down,” "run away," or "tell me your password.")
  • In the case of a failed activation, GMs should consider how bystanders would realistically react to a potentially-outlandish accusation of mind-reading.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.

The eye hardens Grace's mental defenses, protecting the collection of dead children from unwanted intrusions.

You gain the following benefits as long as you are wearing this Artifact.

You get +0 dice to any Mind resistance rolls you make. You also gain the following effects:

  • Been There, Done That: If you succeed a Mind resistance roll, subsequent attempts to use that same Gift or supernatural ability on you for the next day will fail.
  • Instant Karma: If you successfully resist an Effect with your Mind, you may reflect it back to another target as though you had cast it.
  • Naturally Resistant: Any time you make a Mind resistance roll, the individual who you are resisting must Exert their Mind, or your resistance succeeds automatically.
  • Reveal Yourself To Me: If you succeed on a Mind resistance roll, you understand who was targeting you and what the intended effect was.

  • When reflecting an Effect, its Activation Outcome is equal to your resistance Outcome. If you reflect it back at the target who cast it originally, they do not receive a resistance roll.
  • These bonuses apply only to Mind rolls made to resist Effects and other supernatural phenomena. They do not apply to Trauma rolls or self-control rolls.

Grace may allow the eye to control her hands, rotating in her skull to look around on it's own as her hands draw a map of the surroundings on the paper, usually in crayon.

Exert your Mind (unless in an urban area) and spend a minute. Investigate an area with a radius of up to 1 mile You must use up paper & crayons (or other writing utensil) in order to activate this Effect. At the end of your investigation, roll Intellect + Technology at Difficulty 6.

You learn the following information about the area:

  • You can tell how many living things have died in this area, what they were, and roughly when the deaths occurred.
  • You can locate the source of any Alien energy or the presence of any Alien effects on the area. Specific information about the function of these effects beyond their general type is not forthcoming.
  • You choose a specific type of event and receive a vision of the last time it occurred here.
  • You learn how heavily trafficked the area is, what sorts of Animate beings have moved through the area and when.
The quality and specificity of information gained depends on your Outcome.

You cannot investigate the same area more than once per day.

  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.

Stock Artifact Crafting Gifts
