Crafted Artifact

Mask of the Betrayer

Created and held by Draven Darkwood.
A plain white mask with no mouth

Channeling the power of the worn mask, the skin and clothing of the target ripples, slowly molding into the desired shape.

Spend a minute.

You become disguised in a manner of your choosing. The disguise lasts for two hours, or you may end it early at will.

The new appearance must have a similar sex, age, and race to your own. You cannot significantly change your height and weight. Your disguise cannot directly mimic an existing person. You may change the appearance of your outfit. A disguise cannot affect your Attributes or other stats.

You may roll Charisma + Crafts to attempt to make your disguise Beautiful. If your Outcome is 6 or higher, non-Effect Charisma rolls where your good looks could help are rolled at -2 Difficulty. If you fail or botch, you are ugly instead, and non-Effect Charisma rolls are made at +2 Difficulty.

While this Effect is active, you are at -2 dice to all Actions and cannot Concentrate.

This Gift's Cost is capped at 2 and cannot be increased further.

This Effect ends if you take an Injury or are stunned or incapacitated.

While disguised, you cannot use any Activated or Targeted Powers.

  • While you may alter your outfit's appearance, this does not grant or store equipment.
  • ‘Appearance’ includes voice, bone structure, skin quality, hair length and color, eye color, muscle tone, flesh texture, and generally anything perceivable about your body.

The Abuser

Created and held by Liam August.
A gun that relishes on the blood of it's owner just as much as it's prey

Midnight, at Queens, New York. Bodies lay tattered over the streets as the sound of machine gunfire thunders throughout the once sleeping hours. In a restaraunt, five men unleashed the wrath of their guns, shredding and rupture any unfortunate souls to have been caught in the crossfire. In the restaraunts kitchen a lone contractor hunkers down and pray, waiting for the moment the gunfire is silenced as he cuts his leg brandishing the glock against the wound and when the hammers finally fall onto nothing and silence remains the contractor rose up drawing the handgun in his palms only for it to breakaway, strecthing wires of metal to its disembodied parts, filling the void with alloy giving form to a gattling gun. Taking it's first breath in with a hail of lead and sonorous screams.

This Artifact can be used as a handgun. It is roughly the same size as a handgun and just as difficult to conceal.

Attack by rolling Dexterity + Firearms, Difficulty 6. Successful attacks deal Contested Outcome +4 Weapon Damage.

Possession of this Artifact causes the following Battle Scar to manifest over the course of a day: Scar patterns will painfully form on the upper body of the wielder, telling their story and character to all who see. If they lose possession of this Artifact, the Battle Scar heals over the course of the next day.

You also gain the following effects:

  • Infinite Ammo: This weapon never runs out of its standard ammunition.
  • Keyhole: Any bullet that kills your target tumbles through their body and may strike a target in a 90 degree angle behind them. Any damage beyond that needed for the kill is applied to the secondary target.
  • You may spend a Quick Action to change this firearm's base stats into those of any other basic firearm.
  • Shredder: If you successfully hit your target, the value of any Armor they are wearing is reduced by 2. For material armor, this penalty lasts until it is repaired. For intrinsic armor, it lasts until the end of Combat and any relevant wound is healed.

  • Excess keyhole damage does not reapply the weapon's damage bonus and is affected by Armor as normal. The secondary target may React to the tumbled bullet if they have a Gift which lets them do so.
  • Changing this weapon's base type affects its range, Weapon Damage, concealability, and roll. Other mechanics of the chosen base firearm (such as the tripod requirement for sniper rifles) apply.
  • Reminder: additional Weapon Damage granted by this Effect does not stack with any other bonus to Weapon Damage. Instead the largest bonus is used.
  • Rifles are +1 Difficulty to use in melee range. Sniper Rifles are +3 Difficulty to use without a tripod or in melee range. Setting up a tripod takes an Action.

Immovable Rod

Created by Luci Alessi, given to Prototype.
Currently Lost.
An ivory rod, a foot in length, decorated with gold painted leaves. As a quick action you may speak the command word and affix the rod in a location relative to the planet (or other most relevant astral body), and it will not be moved short of 5 tons of force. For every ton after that, the rod moves 10 feet a round. Another quick action is required to deactivate the rod.

The Timekeeper's Timepiece

Created and held by Donovan.
A Jaquet-Droz Astrale Grande Heure.

While you wind the watch, a replica of the face appears faintly over the lock you are (un)locking. When you release the winding mechanism, you see the watch face move to when the lock was last (un)locked. At that time, the object begins to (un)lock, replaying what happened during the previous (un)locking. During this time, the face reverts back to the current time.

Spend an Action. Select a Non-Alien door, container, knot, or lock within 20 feet.

You may lock, unlock, and/or open your target.

  • Operating some locking mechanisms through this Effect may have a secondary effect, such as a turn-key ignition on an older or cheaper car causing it to start or stop. Note that the locking mechanism itself must satisfy the standard targeting requirements (including line of sight), not just the vehicle.
  • Any mechanism that requires a key, keycard, key fob, or combination may be considered locked, at the GM's discretion. This Effect may be used on doors and containers secured with control panels or other electronic locks, but not computer security systems at large.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.

The Redeemers Scythe

Created and held by Blair Kushu.
What seemed to be a normal kitty bracelet, cat bell collar, or perhaps something to adorn ears, but soon turning into a large nightmareish looking scythe, an eyeball could be seen between the end of the blade, and the end of the hilt.

This Artifact can be used as a great sword / giant axe. It is roughly the same size as a great sword / giant axe but can be collapsed into A cat cosemetic and concealed. Collapsing or expanding it costs a Quick Action.

Attack by rolling Brawn + Melee, Difficulty 6. Successful attacks deal 3 Weapon Damage +3 Bonus Damage. The target's fully effective

This item is a living thing. It counts as a Creature when targeted. If destroyed or abandoned for more than two days, it dies and becomes unusable.

  • If there is not enough free space to expand the object, it cannot be expanded.

Blacksmiths Artifacts

Created and held by Henry Avery.
A collection of magic items made by a blacksmith

A small snake keychain made out of steel, and inlaid with copper. Upon looking closer it resembles the world snake.

If the user of the keychain focus, and maintains that focus, they can pick up on heat signatures.

Some of the cooler snakes in this world do in fact have heat vision. Jörmangandr, the world serpent, is one of these cool snakes.

Disclaimer: picture is not mine, belongs to Saulforged. He is a pretty cool blacksmith on instagram.

You gain the following benefits as long as you are wearing this Artifact.

Your senses are enhanced in the following way.

  • Thermal: You are able to "see" heat signatures within your line of sight.

Any heightened senses require you to maintain Concentration to use, and do not apply to any passive Perception checks.

  • Your thermal vision allows you to judge temperatures of surfaces fairly accurately as long as they are within livable temperatures.

A plain looking gold ring, with a hidden inscription that glows under the light of fire. The inscription is in old Norse, but reads: One Ring to Rule them All, and in the Darkness, Bind Them. Upon slipping on the ring they will turn completely invisible.

Curse of the Ring: When in danger or an uncomfortable situation, roll truama to resist putting the ring on and running away. If you try to get rid of the ring, also roll trauma.

You gain the following benefits as long as you are wearing this Artifact.

You and everything you are carrying is obscured in one of the following manners. You may Spend an Action to change the way in which you're concealed.

  • Sight:You are completely obscured from sight. All attempts to detect you via sight fail. Attempts via other senses where sight would assist are rolled at -2 dice.

While this Effect is active, any Effect that would obscure you or your equipment specifically from other, additional senses fails automatically.

If someone discovers you, this Effect will not help you hide from them for the next minute. Activating a targeted or obvious Effect, attacking, or being Injured ends the Effect. When the Effect ends, it is disabled for one minute.

Anyone who touches this Artifact will notice it warping their mind and may drop it. If they choose to hold or use it, they immediately receive the following Trauma: Curse of the Ring. If they lose possession of this Artifact, the Trauma heals over the course of the next day.

  • GMs should use their discretion when determining the exact impacts of this Effect, particularly in conjunction with environmental factors. Standing still against a complex background may render you impossible to detect, and footprints in snow may make it easy. A chance to detect you is not guaranteed.
