This Artifact can be used as a thrusting sword. It is roughly the same size as a thrusting sword and just as difficult to conceal.

Attack by rolling Dexterity + Melee, Difficulty 6. Successful attacks deal Contested Outcome +4 Weapon Damage.

Possession of this Artifact causes the following Battle Scar to manifest over the course of a day: Mixcoatl`s Markings You are covered in full-body indigenous Azteca tattoos. (You are remarkable & incredibly recognizable, and your appearance may cause social complications). If they lose possession of this Artifact, the Battle Scar heals over the course of the next day.

You also gain the following effects:

  • Bane: Injuries dealt to undead are increased by 2 Severity levels.
  • Pin: If you Injure a target with an Attack, you may choose to leave your weapon. If you do, the target is “pinned” to that location until the weapon is removed. Removing the weapon increases the Severity of that Injury by 2.
  • Shredder: If you successfully hit your target, the value of any Armor they are wearing is reduced by 2. For material armor, this penalty lasts until it is repaired. For intrinsic armor, it lasts until the end of Combat and any relevant wound is healed.

  • Reminder: additional Weapon Damage granted by this Effect does not stack with any other bonus to Weapon Damage. Instead the largest bonus is used.

The Ghoul King's Crown

Created by Bu Fang, given to Edgar Stokes.
The Crown bearing the Black Stone has begun to absorb power, The crown has small etchings of blue and purple lines going around it. Over it are small points of light. Occasionally, when not directly looking at it, they make constellations in white lines, and then their colours begin to shift.
Crafted by Viktor Caetano ("Lex")

Integrated into the helmet of whatever it may be that you are wearing, sending 'Mana' passed and all around the head area, creating some sort of Faraday Cage stopping outside influences from taking hold. seems to block incoming influences as well as limiting the impact of those that make it through.

Although it is to be known that it either fully stops the effect or it fully takes hold with the 'Mana' reinforcing whatever the effect is.

You gain the following benefits as long as you are wearing this Artifact.

You get +2 dice to any Mind resistance rolls you make. You also gain the following effects:

  • Compartmentalizing: You can take a maximum of 1 Mind Damage per Round.
  • Clash Of Wills: If you fail to fully resist an Effect, your Outcome is considered to be 0.

  • If you have an Effect that allows you to Exert your Mind more than once per Round, each Exertion still causes one Mind Damage.
  • These bonuses apply only to Mind rolls made to resist Effects and other supernatural phenomena. They do not apply to Trauma rolls or self-control rolls.
Crafted by Minerva McAlaster

The one bearing this map kneels, and holds it tightly in their hands. They close their eyes, and let out a breath.. and their mind slides into the Dreamlands. To people observing, the traveler appears to simply sleep kneeling.

To the one in the Dreamlands, they are in an unmapped part of the Dreamlands. The world around them is raw chaos, ever-shifting. It requires an incredible act of will to force this to resolve into something that can be understood. For not only are all potentials represented here, all times are. With focus, one can will the chaos into an image of something that happened in the past.

Spend a minute. Investigate an area with a radius of up to 20 feet At the end of your investigation, roll Charisma + Influence at Difficulty 6.

You learn the following information about the area:

  • You choose a specific type of event and receive a vision of the last time it occurred here.
The quality and specificity of information gained depends on your Outcome.

This Gift's Cost is capped at 2 and cannot be increased further.

  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.
Crafted by Bu Fang

The neckerchief, unrolled, is designed to be the perfect size for use as a triangular bandage for first aid. This neckerchief, well seasoned with being near Bu Fang when he was cooking with Squid and cuttlefish, this leads it to developing and taking on the aspects of such creatures. Taking it and wrapping it around the wound, the injury and scar starts to feel ticklish, then it starts to visibly heal and restore itself to its original state, though there is a rather intense itch for that moment.

Exert your Mind and spend a minute. Select a Battle Scar on yourself to treat.

The treated Battle Scar heals as you finish activating this Effect.

After you finish activating this Effect, you cannot move quicker than a walk (max 15 feet per Round) for one minute and suffer a -1 dice penalty for an hour. Exhaustion’s penalty and duration stacks with multiple activations.

  • Exhaustion penalties and duration stack. If you activate this Effect or another Effect with Exhaustion, your penalty will worsen, and the duration is increased by one hour.

Pal Sphere

Created and held by Reggin Floda N. Reltih.
conjure an image of a spherical object with a luminescent, pulsating core at its center. The sphere might be adorned with intricate metallic patterns, glowing runes, or circuit-like designs encircling its surface. It could emit a soft, calming light, symbolizing its role as a protector or companion. Depending on the context, it might also have features like mechanical appendages or holographic displays, suggesting its connection to technology or magic.

it might materialize as a humanoid figure with a blend of organic and mechanical features. Imagine a sleek, silver body with elements of armor plating interwoven with synthetic skin. Its eyes could glow with a warm, friendly light, and it might have intricate circuitry patterns visible beneath translucent sections of its body. The Pal's appearance could vary depending on its purpose and the preferences of its summoner. For example, it might have retractable wings for aerial mobility or specialized appendages for various tasks. Overall, it would exude an aura of reliability and companionship, embodying the essence of a loyal ally bound to serve and protect its summoner

Expend a point of Battery and spend an Action. This Effect cannot be used unless I must awake.

  • Intelligence: Minions have dog-level intelligence, and cannot communicate back to you. They cannot actively use Equipment.
  • Actions: Minions cannot dodge or Defend. Any Perception checks they make are rolled with 3 dice.

Lucky Coin

Created by Fortuna Fama, looted by Chip Douglas.
a silver 1 Franc coin

The tossed coin takes a path and speed seemingly impossible, jumping from surface to surface. Is it just luck or is there more to it?

This Artifact can be used as a shuriken. It is roughly the same size as a shuriken and just as difficult to conceal.

Attack by rolling Dexterity + Athletics, Difficulty 6. Successful attacks deal Contested Outcome +2 Weapon Damage.

You also gain the following effects:

  • Chain Lightning: You may Exert your Mind to perform a chain lightning attack. If your attack succeeds, All targets within 5 feet of your primary target take full Damage. The Damage can “jump” up to 5 times. Each target can be hit only once.
  • Return: When you throw this weapon, you may opt to have it return to your possession at the end of the attack. Whoever threw this artifact last may use an Action to recall it from up to 100 feet away, attacking one target in its return path as they do so.
  • Ricochet: You can make a thrown attack against a target behind cover so long as there is at least one exposed pathway to them.

  • Reminder: additional Weapon Damage granted by this Effect does not stack with any other bonus to Weapon Damage. Instead the largest bonus is used.

Hephaestsus's Failure

Created and held by Leo Faber.
A wide bronze ring, able to shrink down to fit around whoever wears it. It's made to slip over the stump of a missing arm or leg. The bronze is much lighter and stronger than it should be.

A wide bronze ring, able to shrink down to fit around whoever wears it. The ring has the image of a hammer impressed on the front. Pressing one's thumb against the symbol causes auditory hallucinations of a blacksmith's workshop and a quick impression of the scent of overpowering sulfur. It's made to slip over the stump of a missing arm or leg, completely bringing it back for as long as it is fitted. The bronze is much lighter and stronger than it should be.

When it is in use, the flesh seemingly regenerates, remaking the limb in perfect health, making it as much like the original limb as possible, including birthmarks and scars. The scene is like watching a time lapse film of a creature like a gecko regenerating a lost limb, starting stubby and filling in. If the limb is a leg or foot, the foot portion can become dexterous with a thought.

Hephaestus often made wondrous creations but none of them could truly help him overcome the limitations of his godly flesh. This ring was one attempt, an attempt to restore strength to his legs (the ring has a twin but it has long since been lost). However, the ring only works on missing limbs, not crippled ones. Furious, the god of fire and creation threw the rings out of his workshop, letting them roll to the foot of Mount Etna where they were retrieved at a later date by a daring Athenian merchant.

You gain the following benefits as long as you are missing a limb and you are wearing this Artifact.

You gain an additional limb that functions as a standard human arm and hand.

Each additional limb you posses can take one Quick Action per Round without incurring a -2 dice penalty to your main Action. Any Battle Scars that affect or remove your additional limb will heal in a single week.

Your extra appendage can stretch to reach an additional 30 feet.

You may turn this Effect on and off at will during its duration.

Your extra appendage is not connected to your nervous or circulatory systems, and you will not take damage if it is hit by an attack or destroyed.

  • You may stretch or retract your limbs once per Round on your Initiative.
  • You may only switch this Effect on or off once per Round on your initiative as a Free Action.

Stock Legendary Artifacts

This Effect activates whenever you are submerged in salt water. It does not require an Action or Exertion. Your target should be intuitively based on the triggering event.

You transform into small for two hours or until you choose to end the Effect. See the Extended System text for stats.

While transformed, you cannot use any equipment (including Artifacts and Consumables), and you cannot use your Active, Targeted, or Trap Powers. However, you can use your Passive Powers. Any equipment you are wearing transforms with you.

Injuries and Wound Level are carried over between forms. However, transforming can never kill you; you merely remain Incapacitated until your Injuries are sufficiently healed.

  • When triggered, the Effect activation resolves immediately after the triggering Action. It is not Reaction speed.
  • Creature Stats
    • Medium (large house cat up to human) Body 3. Brawn 1. Dexterity 3. Fall damage reduced by 1.
All creatures get +3 dice to any non-combat Action that they are naturally adapted for. All creatures Medium and larger may attack by rolling Body, dealing +0 Damage (+1 for “predators”). Gms and Playgroup leaders can apply other bonuses and effects to specific animals.
  • Animals that are quicker than humans (like dogs) have 50 feet of Free Movement. Animals that are very slow (like turtles) have 0 feet of Free Movement.
  • You cannot transform if there is not enough room to do so.
  • The form you take must have the same stats and abilities as a single, extant animal of the relevant size.

The Axe of Legend

This electric guitar has one edge sharpened into a deadly blade. It can be used as either sort of axe.

This Artifact can be used as a sword / axe. It is roughly the same size as a sword / axe and just as difficult to conceal.

Attack by rolling Brawn + Melee, Difficulty 6. Successful attacks deal Contested Outcome +4 Weapon Damage.

You also gain the following effects:

  • Mjolnir: You may call your weapon back to your hand as a Quick Action if it is within 50 feet of you. Can only be used on melee weapon that you have wielded in the past hour.

The Bug-out Bag

No hiker would bat an eye if they saw someone wearing this 80 liter backpacking pack in the backcountry. Those who look closer find it's made of a curious mix of modern materials and what appears to be rawhide stitching.

This Artifact holds 5 times what it normally could inside of it. Objects stored inside are weightless.

Living things can be stored in this Artifact. They will have access to anything else inside and may attempt to break free, damaging or destroying the Artifact in the process.

If this Artifact is destroyed, things inside may get out, and it will cease to function until it is repaired.

When scanned or investigated without opening, the contents of this container appear normal and unremarkable.

If anyone other than you opens the container, it appears empty. Others can still destroy it to get at the contents.

  • A container of holding cannot be placed inside another created by the same Gift.
  • There is no cost to use this container.

This Artifact cannot be broken. If this Artifact is lost and in no one else’s possession, it finds its way back to its true owner during the next Downtime.

By default, the creator of this Artifact is its true owner. The true owner may formally bequeath this Artifact onto another person within arm’s reach, after which they are its true owner. If the true owner dies or is destroyed, their ownership ends. If this Artifact has no true owner, anyone may spend one day attuning to it to become its true owner.

This Artifact's true owner is always aware of the direction and distance to this Artifact.

  • "Cannot be broken" means that damage cannot render the Artifact's Effects unusable, nor can it cease to be used for its primary mundane purpose, if it has one.

This Artifact can change its appearance. When not transformed, it is roughly the same size as a passport and just as difficult to conceal.

Exert your Mind and spend an Action to activate. This Artifact changes its appearance into an Object within the category of forms of identification. This lasts until you decide to end the Effect, which may be done as a Free Action.

The new object's appearance can mimic specific items (such as a particular painting, a certain person’s ID, etc), but must be of a similar size and weight to this Artifact.

The new appearance is illusory; it will hold up to scrutiny, but its composition is not altered and it gains no new functionality. Any attempt to use it for a function which it cannot perform (for instance, making bread look like a knife and then trying to stab someone) will cause the illusion to fail or allow a Perception check to see through the illusion, at the GM's discretion.

You gain the following benefits as long as you are not at all wet and you are wearing this Artifact.

You and everything you are carrying is obscured in one of the following manners. You may Spend an Action to change the way in which you're concealed.

  • Hearing: You are completely obscured from hearing. You produce no sounds while this Effect is active. All attempts to detect you via hearing fail. Attempts via other senses where hearing would assist are rolled at -2 dice.
  • Sight:You are partially obscured from being noticed by sight. All attempts to detect you using sight are rolled at a -3 dice penalty, and all attempts to detect you where sight would assist are rolled at -1 penalty. Anyone who detects you cannot determine any visual details about you beyond your general shape.

While this Effect is active, any Effect that would obscure you or your equipment specifically from other, additional senses fails automatically.

If someone discovers you, this Effect will not help you hide from them for the next minute. This Effect does not end early when you activate an obvious Effect, attack, or receive an Injury.

  • GMs should use their discretion when determining the exact impacts of this Effect, particularly in conjunction with environmental factors. Standing still against a complex background may render you impossible to detect, and footprints in snow may make it easy. A chance to detect you is not guaranteed.
