Legendary Artifact

Sightless' Cane

Created and held by Cery.
A white cane with the head of a red dragon at the top, it's eyes are replaced by rubies.

The Sightless' Cane is a semi-ordinary cane made of infinitely durable materials, though the power has not yet been unlocked, it will be a key part of the wielder's journey to ascention.

This Artifact cannot be broken.

This Artifact's creator is always aware of the direction and distance to this Artifact.

  • "Cannot be broken" means that damage cannot render the Artifact's Effects unusable, nor can it cease to be used for its primary mundane purpose, if it has one.

Community Artifacts

Professional Attire

Created and held by "Slender James" Davis.
A black business suit and tie, unremarkable to the eye. So why can't you shake the question of who's wearing who from the back of your mind? (Worth 2 Armor)

Every thread goes in its perfect place. The body moves like flowing, hungry silk.

You gain the following benefits as long as you are wearing this Artifact and you are engaged in unarmed combat.

+2 dice to rolls for Attacking, Defending, and Clashing without a weapon. Unarmed attacks do +2 Weapon Damage (instead of -1).

You may Defend against melee, projectile, or firearm Attacks from any range and Clash with those in range of your Attacks. Attacking materials like steel or spikes will not Damage you unless it has an Effect that does so.

You also gain the following effects:

  • Disarm: If you successfully Defend or Clash with a melee attack, you may take possession your opponent’s weapon or launch if up to 35 feet away.
  • One Inch Punch: You may make a full attack against any target you can touch, even if you are restrained. To an observer, you hardly move. In a crowded area, determining that you were the source of an attack requires a Perception + Alertness roll with an Outcome of 4.

  • Unlike the Ability Brawl, this Effect does not affect small weapons such as knives.

You drag one unlucky, and often unwilling, participant with you into a murky reflection. Then, you both find yourselves in your Dark Place.

They're not going to like the Dark Place.

The Dark Place consists of a black sky and endless pool of equally black water, a little less than ankle-deep, spreading in every direction as far as the eye can see. There are no noises around but the ones you make.

Exert your Mind and spend an Action. This Effect cannot be used unless your suit is in physical contact with water - at least enough surface area to cover the soles of your shoes.

You phase out of reality for up to 10 minutes. During this time, you cannot perceive or affect the outside world but may take mental and self-targeting Actions. You cannot move. Nothing can interact with you in any way.

When you phase out, you may bring up to 1 additional target in arm's reach with you. While phased out together, you may interact as if standing in an empty void that extends infinitely in all directions.

When you activate this Effect, you may limit its duration to a period of your choosing. If you are able, you may also end it as a Free Action on your initiative.

You leave a hazy reflection or shadow in the water at your location.

  • You may use your Free Movement on the Round you phase back in, but you cannot take an Action.

Contract Name: Karl Tarrion

Created and held by Selia Regoria.
Requested Payment: 3 Acres of land across Oregon valued in at fifty-thousand-dollars (adjusted for inflation). Return Payment: Seventy-Eight-Years after death performing labor work for the family.

The Ledger bursts open as the soul of Karl pours out of it to protect the contract's owner. Bound by his oath he defends the owner with no regard for his will being even when it hurts him. The pain he feels and inflicts is reflected on his owner however as he takes his payment in blood and sanity.

Take a Severity-1 Injury and spend an Action or Reaction. Roll Charisma + Occult at Difficulty 6.

If you succeed, you create a Barrier extending out 15 feet from yourself, which absorbs 2 times the next Outcome + 4 Damage. Only applies to attacks which originated outside the 15 foot radius, and protects anyone who is within that radius. You may choose to create a bubble barrier. If you do, no physical objects or entities can pass into your bubble until the barrier is broken, but you and the barrier cannot move. Half any Damage absorbed by the barrier is reflected back to the attacker. They may attempt to Dodge or Defend using a Desperate Defense, and their Armor applies in full. The Damage reduction from the barrier is applied before Armor. This Artifact may only have 1 active barrier at a time.

You must maintain Concentration while using this Effect. The barrier will fall if you are interrupted, or if it absorbs the full amount of Damage. When a barrier falls, you cannot use this Effect again for a minimum of 2 Rounds.

  • If you use this Effect as a Reaction to dodge, you still need to make a roll to dodge. The Effect will occur regardless of the Outcome of this roll, but if you fail you will be hit by the relevant attack prior to the Effect occurring.

The spirit of Karl pours out from the book, his full frame standing tall he slams the hilt of his axe into the ground and echoes the words of his master with a booming voice. Compelling beasts who hear it into submitting.

Exert your Mind and spend a Free Action. Select a non-Sapient, Animate target within 20 feet.

For the next day, you may issue specific commands to your target which they will be compelled to follow.

Your commands must be relatively simple and within the target’s intellectual grasp. You cannot make them obviously endanger themselves or violate their instinct for self-preservation. The effects of the command will fade after a day has passed.

If targeting a Sapient target that counts as a Creature due to an Effect, you must succeed a contested Mind roll. You roll at Difficulty 6, and the target rolls at Difficulty 8

  • All commands can be issued as a Free Action, not just the initial activation.
  • Your commands must be directly communicated to your target in some way, though this does not require a shared language.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.

Pimp-Cane of Hopeless Souls

Created and held by Ppimperton (Devontae Hanson).
Bigass Black-Diamond Grip, Platinum Decoration, Various Jewels, Lacquered Ebony, Concealed Sword

Ppimperton gives a tap of his Pimp-Cane or a snap of his fingers, and he concentrates a moment. He names which Bitch he wishes to summon, and then with a growl he reminds her aloud that he *owns* her and threatens/cajoles/something her. She obediently steps out from behind him, appearing from within his shadow.
Alternatively, he might concentrate a few moments before tossing a roll of cash off toward a corner, and the hand of one of his Bitches pops out of a shadow to catch the money. Ppimperton then demands she get her ass out here, and she pulls the rest of her body out of the shadow.

Bitches have the following equipment:
* Extremely revealing clothing and hugely impractical shoes that don't hinder them at all
* Kevlar-reinforced fur long-coat
* Pistol with extra mags
* Switchblade for cuttin' Jive Tricks
* Personal amount of cocaine
* Smartphone
* Smartwatch

Exert your Mind and spend two Actions performing the following ritual: Naming, Reminder of Ownership. You must use up Money in order to activate this Effect. You must maintain Concentration while activating this Effect, and it fails if you are interrupted.

Summon a single Bitch at your location. They will last until they are destroyed. They are controlled by the GM but will follow any commands you give. This Artifact may have at most 2 minions active at a time.

  • Attacking: Minions can make ranged attacks at targets up to 30 feet away with 5 dice to attack and +1 Damage.
  • Body: Minions have 4 Body.
  • Movement: Minions can move 20 feet per Round as Free Movement, and double that when performing an all-out Sprint.
  • Intelligence: They have dog-level intelligence, but are capable of communicating information back to you. They may use equipment.
  • Actions: Minions cannot dodge or Defend. Any Perception checks they make are rolled with 8 dice. Your minion is able to Investigation and Survival with a 7-dice pool.

Possession of this Artifact causes the following Battle Scar to manifest over the course of a day: Demonic Shadow and Green-Glinting Eyes. If they lose possession of this Artifact, the Battle Scar heals over the course of the next day.

Nightmare

Created by Blake Sacks, stolen by Mike Carson.
A motorcycle from hell

Yessir! This is my horse! She's been with me since the very beginning. For some reason my Nightmare here just cannot be quite! No matter what I do to the muffler, she just has to let everyone know we're here. That's ok though, makes for a great entrance.

And y'know the best part? Y'Don't have to pay for parking'! Watch this! 'Come here girl!' (claps hands twice in quickly, and it shrinks down and lands in his hands.) I can make you one too! If you got the soul of a loyal steed laying around somewhere! And it'll come in any color you want, as long as it's black.

This Artifact can be used as a Motorcycle. It is roughly the same size as a Motorcycle but can be collapsed into A matchbox motorcycle of matching YM&M and concealed. Collapsing or expanding it costs a Quick Action.

This Motorcycle has saddle bags, rifle holster x2. Any roll to pilot this vehicle receives +2 dice.

You also gain the following effects:

  • Mind of its Own: This vehicle can move and take Actions without you driving it. It has seven dice for all Drive rolls.
  • Flying Solo: Your vehicle cannot have any passengers.
  • No Muffler: Any stealth rolls made to hide your vehicle automatically fail, and any rolls made to notice your vehicle automatically succeed.

  • If there is not enough free space to expand the object, it cannot be expanded. You cannot expand this Object as an attack.

The Sixth Great Horn of Armies Long Past

Created and held by Sir Galahad The Third.
This long horn is covered in delicate hand paintings of a small boy training to be a knight

After a few moments of intense prayer, a long-dead member of Sir Galahad The Third's ancestor's army appears, equipped with a longbow and arrows.

Exert your Mind and spend two Actions performing the following ritual: Signing a Celtic Poem. This Effect cannot be used unless you are in a place of worship. You must maintain Concentration while activating this Effect, and it fails if you are interrupted.

Summon a single Medieval Longbowman at your location. They will last until they are destroyed. They are controlled by the GM but will follow any commands you give. This Artifact may have at most 1 minion active at a time.

  • Attacking: Minions can make ranged attacks at targets up to 30 feet away with 4 dice to attack.
  • Body: Minions have 4 Body.
  • Movement: Minions can move 20 feet per Round as Free Movement, and double that when performing an all-out Sprint.
  • Intelligence: Minions have dog-level intelligence, and cannot communicate back to you. They cannot actively use Equipment.
  • Actions: Minions cannot dodge or Defend. Any Perception checks they make are rolled with 8 dice.

You may only use this Effect once per day.

Stock Legendary Artifacts

Exert your Mind and spend an Action. Select a Location within within arm's reach. All Sapient targets within 20 feet are affected. This Effect cannot be used unless the target is looking directly into the device with uncovered eyes. Roll Charisma + Influence at Difficulty 6. The target may resist by rolling Mind at Difficulty 7.

If the contested Outcome is positive, the most recent 1 hour from your target’s memory is either replaced with new memories or forgotten entirely. This is recorded as a Condition. The level of detail and completeness of the alteration depends on your Outcome. If you fail, the target realizes that you are attempting to alter their memories.

The period is chosen either by time (i.e. “last Friday night”) or by reference to a specific event (i.e. “when the murder occurred”).

  • You do not gain mind-reading through this effect, so your ability to alter their memory is limited by your knowledge of what they might know.
  • The target's roll to realize their memories have been altered can be made a maximum of one time per day.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.

This Artifact can change its appearance. When not transformed, it is roughly the same size as a passport and just as difficult to conceal.

Exert your Mind and spend an Action to activate. This Artifact changes its appearance into an Object within the category of forms of identification. This lasts until you decide to end the Effect, which may be done as a Free Action.

The new object's appearance can mimic specific items (such as a particular painting, a certain person’s ID, etc), but must be of a similar size and weight to this Artifact.

The new appearance is illusory; it will hold up to scrutiny, but its composition is not altered and it gains no new functionality. Any attempt to use it for a function which it cannot perform (for instance, making bread look like a knife and then trying to stab someone) will cause the illusion to fail or allow a Perception check to see through the illusion, at the GM's discretion.

Take a Severity-1 Injury and spend one minute. Select a Dead target within arm's reach with at least half its skeletal structure remaining. You must make a Trauma roll when you use this Effect. Its Difficulty cannot be reduced by any means.

Your target rises as an Animate being. The raised creature is totally mindless, with no memory of its past life or hint of its old personality. They cannot communicate. They will follow any command you speak.

The creature lasts for eight hours or until it dies again. It is revived at full health. Any Injuries it had in life are not accounted for when determining its penalties or progression towards re-death, though they may affect its ability to perform certain actions at GM's discretion.

Raised creatures have their Abilities set to the same that they were in life. Their Charisma and Intellect are set to 1, but their Dexterity, Brawn and Perception are the same as they had in life. A raised creature cannot use any Effects.

Destroying one of your zombies requires a called shot to the head or heart. All other Injuries zombies suffer result in Battle Scars only, limiting their mobility and effectiveness in other ways.

Your revived targets deal 2 Weapon Damage with their unarmed attacks.

  • The called shot requires 4 Outcome dealing 4+ Damage or 6 Outcome dealing 2+ Damage.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.

This Effect activates whenever you are recorded. It does not require an Action or Exertion. Select a Non-Sapient Object within 20 feet no larger than a duffel bag (35 liters). Roll Perception + Culture Difficulty 6.

If your Outcome is 4 or higher, the target will be completely destroyed and can no longer function, though it may still be repaired. If your Outcome is less than 4, the target will be partially damaged, and any attempts to use it will suffer a dice penalty equal to your Outcome.

  • When triggered, the Effect activation resolves immediately after the triggering Action. It is not Reaction speed.
  • The penalty from an object being damaged will stack with itself if a target is hit multiple times, but the object is destroyed when it reaches a total penalty of -4.

Whenever you show this Artifact to someone, you may give a general description of an Object within the category of forms of identification, and anyone who hears the description and sees the Artifact will have their mind fill in the details to complete the illusion.

The way the Artifact is seen can mimic specific items (such as a particular painting, a certain person’s ID, etc), but must be of a similar size and weight to this Artifact.
