David appears to die. He crumples and his body collapses to the ground. His spirit rises away from the corpse and is dragged below the earth. Then his spirit claws its way out of the Beyond an hour later, dragging itself by its fingertips back to his corpse, where it enters and life is returned to him.
While David may have acquired many of his other abilities through research, this one he acquired through willpower. When he died, Vance decided he had too much on the line to pass away, and he clawed his way back from the Beyond itself to keep up the fight.
You gain the following benefits at all times.
If you would take an Injury that would kill you, you don’t die. Instead, you survive in an Incapacitated state, though you appear dead to any means of detecting life. This state lasts for the next hour, at which point you fully return to life.
If, while you are unconscious, your wound level rises above your rating in Body + Brawn, or if you take an Injury with Severity greater than your rating in Brawn, you die. After you return, the Injury that would have killed you, as well as any Injuries sustained while Incapacitated, are healed. Battle scars obtained during this time remain.
(Roll Charisma+Opera)
Molpa focuses her attention on a target and sings a short string of notes that evoke an appropriate emotion.
The frequency of the music can be felt through the whole body of the target as the vibrations coalesce and concentrate around them, whether the selection is a gentle melody, an atonal discordance, or a harmonious, uplifting tune.
Unfortunately, Molpa's already pretentious temperament is pushed to an extreme when she realizes how much more moving her already superb singing has become.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action. Select a Living target within 45 feet as well as a specific emotion. Roll Charisma + Performance at Difficulty 6. Affected targets can resist by rolling Mind at Difficulty 6 -3 dice.
If you succeed, for the next minute, your target will do things they otherwise wouldn’t have done, inspired by the chosen emotion. They will not necessarily display their emotions in an obvious way.
Actions they take will be in keeping with their character and the way they tend to deal with strong emotions. They will be unlikely to change their mind about any actions taken or decisions made until after the Effect ends.
Possession of this Power grants the following Trauma at all times: Delusions of Grandeur.
An orange light flows from you
Spend 10 minutes. Select a Non-Living or Animate target within arm's reach that is of any size. You may target Alien technology, so long as you have an understanding of its intended function. When repairing Alien or Sapient targets, you must Exert your Mind. More than half the target object must be present in order to begin repairs. Roll Brawn + Alertness at Difficulty 6 (or 8 for Sapient targets).
If you succeed, your target is repaired back to a functional state. If you fail, you spend the full time working before realizing you cannot repair the target. If your target only requires fuel or power and is otherwise in working order, this Effect costs no Exertion, and the target is fueled/powered for the next 24 hours.
When you activate this Effect, you may choose to repair any number of valid targets within 300 feet.
If you are successful in repairing a Sapient Object, a single Injury on the target is reduced in Severity by your Outcome.
This Effect ends if you are stunned, fall asleep, go unconscious, are incapacitated, die, or if your total Stress ever exceeds 5.
Astraeus spends a minute focusing, a finger or two placed on his forehead as he draws forth the power, upon which a small, gleaming yellow fleur-de-lis appears. He and those affected feel strangely connected to eachother, unless they have an already bad relationship. Nevertheless, Astraeus gains the ability to commune with just about anyone, using the subject’s most familiar ‘language’.
Exert your Mind and spend one minute.
You may understand and communicate to Creatures, humans, and Sapient beings as if you are fluent in a relevant language for the next hour.
Tabatha, through the immense usage of her vampiric abilities and consumption of blood, has obtained an aspect of vampirism she had lacked for a long time... The inability to starve
You gain the following benefits at all times.
You no longer require any food, water, or air in order to survive. Any roll to resist an Effect dependent on any affected requirement automatically succeeds.
Pawn's veins begin to bulge and darken as shadowy mist gathers in front of her. A red aura can be seen exiting Pawn and entering the shadowy mass instead. From that mass emerges a dark humanoid figure with red eyes and no other features. With a spin of his scythe, everything goes back to normal.
Dave has come.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action.
Summon a single Dave at your location. They will last until they are destroyed. They are controlled by the GM but will follow any commands you give. You may have at most 1 minion active at a time.
Anyone who witnesses you during this Effect's activation or for its duration will almost certainly be disturbed to see blood being drained from Pawn in order to allow a dark shadowy figure appear before her.
Possession of this Power grants the following Battle Scar: Shoulder Subluxation.
Through their faith, the priest is able to stretch bread or fish to extreme lengths, feeding a seemingly endless number of people from meager supplies.
Spend an Action. Select a target within arm's reach. You must actively and obviously use bread or a fish to activate this Effect.
For the next 24 hours, your target does not require any food, water, or sleep. Any attempts to age your target fail.
This Gift's Cost is capped at 2 and cannot be increased further.
True to their namesake, the hacker can penetrate the security of any computer system, granting access to its informational stores, or, in a pinch, allowing them to issue commands. The hacked system will display a flickering image of a ghost until it is dismissed.
While hacking, The Technician's fingers move with supernatural speed, blurring like a ghost.
Exert your Mind and spend 1 minute. Select a Computer within arm's reach. Does not work on Alien technology. Roll Intellect + Technology, with the Difficulty set by the GM depending on the security of the system you are hacking. Sapient targets can resist by rolling Mind at Difficulty 6.
If you succeed, you may issue a single command to the targeted system. This command must have a specific outcome or be a request for specific login credentials. The command you issue must be within the machine's current capabilities. For example, you cannot order a standard security camera to grow legs and walk around.
If your command does not require bypassing the security of the target (for example, typing on a computer that is unlocked), you do not need to Exert your Mind to activate this Effect, and activation only takes a single Action.
Your Hack cannot be reversed through mundane means for a number of hours equal to your Outcome.
Every hack you make leaves behind a flickering image of a ghost in the system as a personal "calling card" that informs anyone who uses the system that the hack occurred.
The detective can learn a lot by watching someone for a minute. Each subtle detail, every unexplained stain, reveals something about where the target has been. Ocassionally, they'll drop a business card, or explain how to contact them. The detective is listening.
Exert your Mind and spend a minute. Select a Sapient target within 20 feet. This Effect cannot be used unless the target does not know you're watching them. You cannot investigate the same target more than once per hour. At the end of your investigation, roll Charisma + Investigation at Difficulty 6.
You learn a single specific piece of information, chosen from the following list, about your target:
The quality and specificity of information gained depends on your Outcome.
This Effect is not obvious, and the only sign you are using an Effect is that you keep peeking at the target. If someone suspects that an Effect was used, they must roll Perception + Alertness, Difficulty 8 to pick up on your Tell.
No terrestrial animal dares defy the will of the beastmaster. The beastmaster exerts their dominance over an animal by locking eyes and giving a primal cry. The creature immediately becomes docile and eager to please.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action. Select a Creature within 20 feet. This Effect cannot be used unless the target is a terrestrial animal.
For the next day, you may issue specific commands to your target which they will be compelled to follow.
Your commands can be complex and multi-layered, though they must still be specific. You cannot make them obviously endanger themselves or violate their instinct for self-preservation. The effects of the command will fade after a day has passed.
Sapient targets can resist by rolling Mind at Difficulty 6.
Unimportant characters just can't seem to hit our hero with their attacks. Injuries that are sustained from underlings are conveniently non-severe.
You gain the following benefits as long as the attacker isn't important enough to have a name.
You have 4 Armor, which reduces incoming Damage. Armor from multiple sources does not stack. This Armor cannot be circumvented with Called Shots.
