When Selma uses this Gift, the air around her drops a few degrees, a subtle shiver brushing against anyone nearby. She leans close, her voice barely more than a breath, whispering into the target’s ear. As she speaks, a faint, ghostly glow — like moonlight caught in mist — gathers at the wound, shrinking it until it vanishes entirely, leaving nothing but untouched skin behind.
Selma's healing is not loud, not explosive, but intimate — a communion between the dying and the dead-yet-walking. She does not command flesh to mend; she convinces it, softly, to forget its pain. Her words are stitched with a magic older than hope, with a certainty that death is neither enemy nor end, but a passage. "Whisper of Life" is not a shout against mortality — it is a secret, a hush passed between bodies that are trying to survive just a little longer.
Exert your Mind and spend 1 minute. Select a Living target within arm's reach. Choose a specific Injury on your target that has not yet been treated with this Effect and roll Intellect + Medicine at Difficulty 6.
If you succeed, the Injury is reduced in Severity by your Outcome. If you reduce its Severity to 0, the Injury is fully healed. Otherwise, it is partially healed and will heal the rest of the way at its natural rate.
This counts as a successful Makeshift Stabilization if the Injury was not already Stabilized; any Battle Scars caused by the Injury will remain. You may specify a specific condition that the patient must adhere to. If they break this condition, the treatment is immediately reversed. Record this regimen as a Condition. Lasts until the end of their next Contract or 1 month for non-Contractors.
This Effect is not obvious, and the only sign you are using an Effect is The air around her chills slightly. If someone suspects that an Effect was used, they must roll Perception + Alertness, Difficulty 8 to pick up on your Tell.
A new feature among Sapphire Sundown units currently being rolled out, the Potential Energy Matrix is a series of wires, power cells, and motion collectors that are installed inside each unit’s chassis. The system is accessible from the unit’s back via a small panel, and makes all units entirely self-sufficient for all energy needs.
Units are still required to power down in order to give the Matrix time to properly recharge.
You gain the following benefits at all times.
You no longer require any food, water, or air in order to survive. Any roll to resist an Effect dependent on any affected requirement automatically succeeds.
The Harbinger has introduced the Monk to an old master who has accepted him as a pupil. Their training is brutal, but effective. Weeks of driving his hands into piles of sand has hardened them into frightful weapons.
The Monk is capable of catching swords by the blade and does not fear spiked armor. Further, the attacks of their hardened hands are truly deadly.
You gain the following benefits as long as you are engaged in unarmed combat.
Your unarmed attacks deal +4 Bonus Damage (instead of -2). The target's Armor is fully effective against this damage.
Possession of this Power grants the following Battle Scar: The bones and outer cover of your hands become metallic like.
You also gain the following effects:
Attempting to get to you is like trying to headbutt through a brick wall: sure, it's *possible*, but is it really worth the headache? You've internalised the perfect method of dealing with emotional trauma - just don't think about it and you'll be fine.
You gain the following benefits at all times.
You get +2 dice to any Mind resistance rolls you make. You also gain the following effects:
The Ninja is so attuned to the sounds of their surroundings, they may focus their mind to "see" using the subtle acoustic vibrations.
You gain the following benefits at all times.
Your senses are enhanced in the following way.
The aristocrat knows a ritual that allows them to rent the best version of any item. They set $10,000 worth of cash on fire and place the item to be upgraded in the fire as well. While in the flame, the item morphs into a high-end version of itself. After a while, it reverts.
Exert your Mind and spend a minute. Select a non-Alien Device within arm's reach. You must use up $10,000 cash (or equivalent) in order to activate this Effect. Cannot be used to improve Armor.
Lasts the next two hours. Your target receives 3 extra dice to all actions taken for its intended use. Attacking with an upgraded weapon grants +3 Weapon Damage instead of additional dice.
The mobster presents a reasoned, logical case to the target: there's a lot of dangerous folks out there, and only they can offer safety... for a price.
If they agree, they will pay the mobster a monthly fee for protection. If they stop making their payments... well, let's just say, the mobster can't be held responsible for any unsavory types that might pay them a visit.
This Effect cannot be used unless you are making a deal to exchange money for protection.
You may make an oath with a physically-present, Sapient target. Communicate the oath's terms to the target, including the requirements and penalties for each participant. If all agree to the terms, you must Exert your Mind and all participants must shake hands to seal the deal.
Record the oath as a Condition. If a party breaks the oath, the Condition ends and they suffer the oath's penalty.
When crafting your oath, you may incorporate any of the following penalties:
The target cannot be compelled to agree via a direct threat of violence, another Effect, or another oath. If you would like to use clever wording to mislead the target, you must succeed a contested Intellect + (Culture or Influence) roll.
The Vampire is able to turn one of their victims into a lesser vampire, a pale shadow of a full creature of the night but useful nonetheless. Having drained and killed their target, the Vampire performs a brief ritualistic bloodletting, wherein they spill their own blood into the target's mouth, forcing them to drink, and bonding them together as child and sire.
Shortly afterwards, the fledgling vampire will rise from death, hungry for blood and eager to serve.
Increase your sacrificial Injury's Severity by 1 and spend one minute. Select a Dead target within arm's reach that has died within the last hour. This Effect cannot be used unless you drained the target's blood while they were still alive.
Your target rises as an Animate being. The raised creature is totally mindless, with no memory of its past life or hint of its old personality. They cannot communicate. They will follow any command you speak.
The creature lasts until it dies again. It is revived at full health. Any Injuries it had in life are not accounted for when determining its penalties or progression towards re-death, though they may affect its ability to perform certain actions at GM's discretion. The raised creature must consume flesh every day or it will die again.
Raised creatures have their Abilities set to the same that they were in life. Their Charisma and Intellect are set to 1, but their Dexterity, Brawn and Perception are the same as they had in life. A raised creature cannot use any Effects.
Your revived targets deal 2 Weapon Damage with their unarmed attacks.
If you do not have a sacrificial Injury when you activate this Effect, take a new Severity-1 Injury.
The spy is able to transform an ordinary ballpoint pen into a monitoring device that is inconspicuous enough to blend in to most settings, but advanced enough to allow 360 degree surveillance as well as audio capture, which is sent to their smartphone.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action. Select a Location within 10 feet. You must actively and obviously use a ballpoint pen to activate this Effect.
You place a ward, which is fixed to its initial location. You can hear and see through the ward as though you were standing at its location. Your wards last 3 hours. You may have at most 3 wards active at once.
The ward requires Concentration to monitor, though it will remain active until you deactivate it. It can be detected with a roll and destroyed through mundane means.
