Walking by Grave “Worst comes to worst, dig me up”, Vance dryly remarks, as a sand encrusted hand drags him down into the dirt grave.

David walks between the tombstones, and as he does, the air gets darker, heavier. He walks in a realm of sand and bone as the sights of the modern world fade away, only graves and the souls of the dead wandering the sands. Following a voice only he can hear (‘find me’), David seeks out one particular tomb among the sprawling sands. When he finds it, he enters inside, and depending on how the voice he can hear reacts, appears either above or below the tomb, either unharmed or buried alive. This was how it worked before David learned the terrain. Having wandered through the realms of death for some time now, David has started to learn which tombs to avoid, and when the voice is calling him into cursed ground. He no longer is misread by its occasional attempts to lead him astray.

To outside observers, this effect appears as a sand crusted bony limb reaching out of the grave or tomb to pull David within it in a whirling rush of sand. At the other targeted grave (or other targeted point if not using Spirit Paths), if all goes well, Vance appears rising from the grave, covered in a light dusting of sand and bone dust.

As David walks a Realm of the Dead, their voices cry out to him. “Find us.” “Find us.” “Gorgonsire, find us”. On the whisper of the wind he can almost hear a Medusa’s dying words, locked in time and sand and wreathed in bone as its head topples from its shoulders.

“Find me”

And yet for now, the echoed voice goes unanswered.

Community Power Gifts

You gain the following benefits at all times.

You are permanently and visibly transformed: Red stripes on his quills. You are considered to be a Sapient, Living being when targeted. Your Brawn is increased by 1.

  • Attribute bonuses from multiple sources do not stack. Instead the highest bonus is used.

This Effect activates whenever Being reduced to the wounded state in combat. It does not require an Action or Exertion. Make a Trauma roll when you activate this Effect.

You transform into a Werewolf for 30 minutes. You have access to all of your Powers while you are a Werewolf, and you can use your equipment. Your Battle Scars, Injuries, and physical Liabilities are carried over between forms. While transformed, your Brawn is increased by 1 and your Perception is increased by 1.

Your alternate form is its own deadly weapon. Unarmed attacks made in your alternate form deal +3 Bonus Damage (instead of the typical -2).

You do not suffer any Penalty while in your Alternate Form.

After this Effect ends, you cannot move quicker than a walk (15 feet per Round) for one minute and suffer a -1 dice penalty for an hour.

While transformed, you automatically fail any Mind roll to resist an impulse and suffer -3 dice on all other Mind rolls.

You cannot speak any coherent verbal language while transformed and must resort to other means of communication.

You are incapable of fine object manipulation while transformed and can only hold or grasp things in a crude, clumsy way.

  • Reminder: Bonus Damage from multiple sources does not stack. Instead, the highest Bonus is used.

Exert your Mind and spend 15 minutes to activate. Select a Living target within arm's reach. You cannot target yourself. You must use up Painkillers in order to activate this Effect.

You may cure any any number of diseases or poisons afflicting your target even if you have not diagnosed or fully understood them. You may cure diseases or poisons even if they are not treatable through modern medicine. During treatment, the malady you are treating does not progress or cause additional damage or other effects.

You may only use this Effect once per day.

  • Without some sort of diagnostic Effect, “fully diagnosing” a disease or poison will always require a roll of some sort, frequently Intellect + Medicine, but the specific roll and difficulty is at GM’s discretion.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.

On painting:
It's therapeutic! It's calming! Art can be so many things at once yet nothing at all. It's what you make of it. It's what I say it is. You are what I say you are. You're such a perfect little piece of art... but my prof would always say, "Kill your darlings. 'Ruin' your art and learn to let go." We're letting go of you. Are you happy now?

On technique:
Luciole can never forget the contours. She can never forget the contours of everyone she's ever loved, and that's... E V E R Y O N E . It's only natural that it's the first thing she traces of you, and it's the first thing she'll try to sabotage. She has an image of you in her mind that she traces and cuts at, chipping you away like her painstaking sculpture. Hey, at least you're not getting an unstabilized injury with this. If you're suddenly missing a limb, it just means you have a stump where your hand was supposed to be. Luciole isn't going to waste time drawing all the gorey details.

On abstract art:
She likes unsettling things - was it not clear before? It's not that she dreams of repainting real humans on the daily, but the thought has crossed her mind before. Now she's free to reinterpret bodies as she pleases - no more nonsense about anatomy and drawing style, this is just real life with a cherry on top.

On the horrible things she could do:
Are you curious enough to peek this far? Well, here's a little secret. Luciole isn't perfect at drawing. No one can be, especially not in three seconds.
Chances are,
- You've been disfigured because she tried to redraw your face and failed miserably. Why is your eye where your mouth is supposed to be?
- You're getting chronic ankle instability because she redrew your legs too thin to support the rest of you.
- You're getting missing fingers because she can't draw fingers.
- You're getting tongueless because she erased it and forgot to put it back.
- You're getting wheezing because she's drawn your neck too thin and there's no space for your airways.
- You're missing a limb because she erased it thinking you wouldn't need it.
- You've got a traumatic brain injury because she sneezed and accidentally drew a dent in your head.
- You've got narcolepsy because she drew Z's everywhere.
- You've been skinned because she erased your outer layer. She's a media artist, she draws with multiple layers.

On range:
Luciole has to be able to see you, including the part of you that she is trying to redraw. If you have your head turned away from her, she can't scribble on your face. Hey, why don't you come closer? :)

On healing:
Art is a very transient thing to Luciole. It'll fade over time, but it's okay. She'll make something even better next time, just you wait.

Spend an Action. Select a Living target within 45 feet. Roll Dexterity + Occult at Difficulty 6. The target may roll Body, -2 dice at Difficulty 7, as a Free Action to resist.

If you succeed, the target receives a new Battle Scar of your choosing, limited by the contested Outcome:

  1. A Minor Battle Scar E.g. an aesthetic-only body modification (a disfigured face, a pig's tail), impacted hand or foot, or vocal changes that complicate communication
  2. A Major Battle Scar E.g. a disabled/removed hand or foot, an inability to speak, an impacted major sense, removal of a minor sense, impacted movement.
  3. A Severe Battle Scar E.g. a disabled/removed arm or leg, deafness, aesthetic changes that are nearly impossible to conceal.
  4. An Extreme Battle Scar E.g. removal/disabling both hands or both legs, blindness, a full-body deformation that leaves the target humanoid but makes it difficult to use clothes, vehicles, and equipment designed for humans.
Refer to the stock Battle Scars on the Character Sheet for specific systems.

This Gift cannot have more than 3 Drawbacks, and its Gift Cost is capped at 2.

Your alteration "heals" over the course of the next month, after which it is fully cured.

  • Remember: A Contractor’s Body rating is reduced by 1 for each Battle Scar after their fourth.
  • You may opt to inflict a Battle Scar that is less severe than what your Outcome allows.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.

You gain the following benefits as long as you are engaged in combat with Japanese weapons.

Your attacks with Japanese weapons deal +3 Bonus Damage. Armor is fully effective against this damage.

Possession of this Power grants the following Trauma at all times: delusion that guns are not dangerous to people wielding edged weapons.

You also gain the following effects:

  • Bullet Parry: You may React to and Defend against firearms and other projectiles with Japanese weapons.
  • Fancy Footwork: You may move your full Dash distance and attack with your Melee weapon in the same Round without penalty. You may also split your movement before and after your attack.

  • Reminder: Bonus Damage stacks with Weapon Damage, but does not stack with any other Bonus Damage. Instead, the highest Bonus Damage is used.

Stock Power Gifts

You gain the following benefits as long as as long as you are visibly dressed head to toe in black with hardly any skin showing.

You and everything you are carrying is obscured in one of the following manners. You may Spend an Action to change the way in which you're concealed.

  • Hearing: You are completely obscured from hearing. You produce no sounds while this Effect is active. All attempts to detect you via hearing fail. Attempts via other senses where hearing would assist are rolled at -2 dice.

While this Effect is active, any Effect that would obscure you or your equipment specifically from other, additional senses fails automatically.

If someone discovers you, this Effect will not help you hide from them for the next minute. Activating a targeted or obvious Effect, attacking, or being Injured ends the Effect. When the Effect ends, it is disabled for one minute.

You may turn this Effect on and off at will during its duration.

Possession of this Power grants the following Trauma at all times: compulsion to test the awareness of allies by sneaking up on them with a weapon.

  • You may only switch this Effect on or off once per Round on your initiative as a Free Action.

Exert your Mind (unless you win a coin flip) and spend two Actions performing the following ritual: perform a fire-breathing trick. Select a target within 20 feet which has both fuel and oxygen available (if you are starting a new fire). Roll a single D10 as a critical failure check. If you roll a 1, the Effect fails, and you take a Severity-4 Injury as the fire burns your throat. You must maintain Concentration while activating this Effect, and it fails if you are interrupted.

You may start or extinguish a fire as large as a firepit's fire at your target. Extinguishing a fire does not cost Exertion. You may create or extinguish fires the size of a lighter or candle flame without Exerting your Mind. Your fires require fuel and oxygen in order to continue burning.

Lighting a target on fire deals 4 Damage each Round on your turn, starting in the Round after the one in which they caught fire. This Damage is reduced by Armor, but the target’s Armor rating will be shredded by any Damage dealt, destroying material Armor once it reaches 0.

You may extinguish flames as a Reaction. This does not extend to explosives.

  • Your fires may be extinguished with appropriate Actions and materials. Stop, drop, and rolling to extinguish requires spending an Action and making a Dexterity + Athletics roll, with an Outcome of 4 putting out the flames.
  • If the target is larger than your flame size, the Armor destruction creates a weak point instead of applying to the entire target.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.

Exert your Mind and spend an Action. Select a target within 45 feet. Roll Charisma + Performance Difficulty 6. The target may contest by rolling to Dodge or Defend as a Reaction, Difficulty 6.

If the contested Outcome is positive, the target takes that much Damage plus 4. Armor is fully effective against this damage.

  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.

Exert your Mind and spend at least one Action. Select a Sapient target within 20 feet. Your target cannot be engaged in Combat. Communicate a command to your target. Roll Charisma + Influence at Difficulty 6. The target may resist by rolling Mind at Difficulty 7.

If the contested Outcome is positive, your target will be compelled to follow your command to their best understanding of the letter and spirit of the command until they have completed it or for your Contested Outcome in minutes. You cannot issue another suggestion to the target until 10 minutes after they have completed the first command or 10 minutes after a failure.

The target is unaware that they are under supernatural influence and feel they are acting of their own free will. If you fail, they realize that you were attempting to influence them supernaturally with your command.

Your command can be an order to take an immediate Action. You cannot order a target to "do nothing," and they are free to take other Actions as they fulfill your request. Your command cannot be obviously self-destructive. The Effect ends if following your command would cause a target to cross one of their Limits in a way that would necessitate a Trauma roll.

  • The target must be able to understand you and must receive your communication for the suggestion to work.
  • Allowed Commands
    • Direct Order: The target must take an immediate action (e.g. “Sit down,” "run away," or "tell me your password.")
  • In the case of a failed activation, GMs should consider how bystanders would realistically react to a potentially-outlandish accusation of mind-reading.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.

Exert your Mind and spend an Action. Select a Non-Alien Creature within 20 feet. This Effect cannot be used unless the target is a terrestrial animal.

For the next day, you may issue specific commands to your target which they will be compelled to follow.

Your commands can be complex and multi-layered, though they must still be specific. You cannot make them obviously endanger themselves or violate their instinct for self-preservation. The effects of the command will fade after a day has passed.

  • Your commands must be directly communicated to your target in some way, though this does not require a shared language.
  • If targeting a Sapient target that counts as a Creature due to an Effect, you must succeed a contested Mind roll. You roll at Difficulty 6, and the target rolls at Difficulty 8.
  • Targets with Body ratings higher than 10 require a Charisma + Animals roll resisted by the target’s Body. Kaiju and environment-scale targets are immune.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.
