Pete stands tall, his eyes fixed on the sky. He takes a deep breath and lets out a sharp whistle, a clear, resonant sound that echoes in the air. Moments later, a small, fluffy cloud begins to descend from the heavens, looking almost like a soft, white piece of the sky itself, reminiscent of ancient tales.
As the cloud draws nearer, Pete braces himself, then performs a flawless somersault, landing deftly on top of the cloud. The cloud feels surprisingly solid beneath his feet, and a sense of lightness envelops him. With a focused mind, Pete maintains his concentration, ensuring the ritual's success. He stands on the cloud, which gently rises, lifting him above the ground.
The cloud, now carrying Pete, begins to move smoothly and silently. As he gains altitude, he feels an exhilarating sense of freedom. The landscape below grows smaller, and the wind rushes past him. He leans forward slightly, and the cloud responds, moving forward with ease, though it sways gently, almost as if it had a playful spirit.
While flying, Pete can maneuver the cloud with incredible agility, reminiscent of the legendary journey of Sun Wukong. He darts left and right, ascends and descends with precision, the cloud effortlessly following his movements. It sways and moves with a life of its own, a subtle nod to its mythical origins.
As Pete glides through the air, the world below unfolds in a breathtaking panorama. The cloud remains steady beneath him, providing a safe and reliable platform. For two hours, Pete soars through the skies, exploring the world from a bird's-eye view, immune to the dangers of falling and reveling in the unmatched freedom of flight. The cloud, seemingly imbued with ancient magic, hints at its legendary origin tied to the mythical Monkey King.
Exert your Mind and spend two Actions performing the following ritual: Pete Whistles and waits for a small cloud to descend from the sky he dodges it with a somersault landing on top then. You must maintain Concentration while activating this Effect, and it fails if you are interrupted. This Effect remains active for two hours.
As long as you are conscious, you are immune to falling Damage and may hover in place mid-air. Additionally, you may glide as you fall, traveling 35 feet horizontally for every 10 feet you fall. While gliding, you fall at a minimum speed of 10 feet per Round.
You may ascend into the air and fly using your Small Cloud. You require 10 feet of clear space on all sides to fly. You may add 50 feet to Movement you take while flying.
You are subject to the following effects while gliding or flying:
Through the use of clever rhetoric, Bill is able hold a brief conversation with people and inspire a surge of emotion in them.
Exert your Mind and spend one minute. Select a Living target within arm's reach as well as a specific emotion. This Effect cannot be used unless you are engaged in conversation with your targets. Roll Charisma + Influence at Difficulty 6. Affected targets can resist by rolling Mind at Difficulty 6 -3 dice.
If you succeed, for the next hour, your target will do things they otherwise wouldn’t have done, inspired by the chosen emotion. They will not necessarily display their emotions in an obvious way.
Actions they take will be in keeping with their character and the way they tend to deal with strong emotions. They will be unlikely to change their mind about any actions taken or decisions made until after the Effect ends.
This Effect is not obvious, and the only sign you are using an Effect is the subject matter of the conversation relates to the emotion he is inspiring. If someone suspects that an Effect was used, they must roll Perception + Alertness, Difficulty 8 to pick up on your Tell.
As a member of the original species to practice this art, it only makes sense that Leon would pursue a small restoration of his power at the first chance he got. The power of the gift frees a small part of his soul from the botched ritual that half shackles it to Hasashi's shrine in japan. Bastard. Still, while it isn't quite at the level of complexity or range that Leon desires as of yet, the feeling of knowing that you can make someone go fuck themselves with a glance is one that Leon finds comforting.
Exert your Mind and spend at least one Action. Select a number of Sapient targets equal to your Charisma within 20 feet. You must use up A katashiro in order to activate this Effect. Your target may be actively engaged in Combat. Communicate a command to your targets. Roll Charisma + Influence at Difficulty 6. The targets may resist by rolling Mind at Difficulty 7.
If the contested Outcome is positive, your targets will be compelled to follow your command to their best understanding of the letter and spirit of the command until they have completed it or for your Contested Outcome in days. You cannot issue another suggestion to the target until 10 minutes after they have completed the first command or 10 minutes after a failure.
The target is unaware that they are under supernatural influence and feel they are acting of their own free will. If you fail, they realize that you were attempting to influence them supernaturally with your command.
Your command can be an order to take an immediate Action, a conditional request, and an abstract goal. You cannot order a target to "do nothing," and they are free to take other Actions as they fulfill your request. Your command cannot be obviously self-destructive. Commands may force a target to violate one of their Limits, and they will need to make a Trauma roll once the suggestion wears off.
You must have some means of communicating this command to your targets, but no one other than you and them will understand or perceive it.
This Effect ends if you are stunned, fall asleep, go unconscious, are incapacitated, die, or if your total Stress ever exceeds 5.
Despite the trauma to his body, Harold appears to have fallen into a coma. After a hour, he returns, the "killing" blow seemingly healed.
I awoke in a Victorian garden. Two mercury teacups sit on a table. The air smells like asbestos and something bitter. Sulphur? Across the table from me sits a skeleton, its eyes drilling holes into my soul. I know what it has come to tell me, even before wordless emotions tumble from its lipless mouth.
"Your time has come. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust"
I choke back my fear, then trembling, speak.
"Another few years, I beg of you. Am I not your most devoted servant? Have I not feared and revered you at every moment? How many have I sent into your arms?"
The skeleton sits emotionless, its jaw moving, speaking soundlessly.
"I have given you so many chances, Harold. But I must admit a sense of curiosity. Do you plan to evade me forever"
"Until death do we meet," I retort, half joking.
But it is already over. I am waking. Emotions begin to return to my body. Neurons fire randomly, an intricate web creating a tapestry of sparks. And so I return.
You gain the following benefits at all times.
If you would take an Injury that would kill you, you don’t die. Instead, you survive in an Incapacitated state. This state lasts for the next hour, at which point you fully return to life.
If, while you are unconscious, your wound level rises above your rating in Body + Charisma, or if you take an Injury with Severity greater than your rating in Charisma, you die. After you return, the Injury that would have killed you, as well as any Injuries sustained while Incapacitated, are healed. Battle scars obtained during this time remain.
The user regularly practices double stepping. Through practice and a scroll giften to him from a job he learned to begin continously practicing the double step increasing his speed by 100%.
You gain the following benefits at all times.
Whenever you use your Movement, after all other calculations, the distance you may travel is quadrupled.
If your last Action was used for an all-out sprint or you are already accelerated, you may spend an Action to accelerate without a roll, adding 300 feet/Round (not affected by your speed bonus) to your sprint speed, to a max of an extra 900 feet/Round. As long as you stay at these speeds, you may use this distance per Round as your Free Movement.
Any terrain you traverse while accelerated must be passable by a standard vehicle at similar speeds. Stopping, turning sharply, or decelerating more than 300 feet/Round must be performed as an Action. Failing to decelerate with an Action (whether because of an obstacle, sudden unfavorable terrain, an Injury, or other event) deals 3 Damage which Armor does not reduce.
Outside of Combat, any non-Gift, non-movement Actions you attempt take drastically less time to complete, as long as your personal speed is a factor in the Action. Total time reduction is determined by the GM and capped at 90% (executing the Action takes no less than 1/10th the normal time).
While using this Effect, you may carry one other being without affecting your Encumbrance, so long as you maintain contact with them for the duration and they consent or are grappled.
Hidden meanings and hidden messages. Staples of many art pieces- of many artists, to hide things in plain sight. Luci has taken this to its logical conclusion- making herself an art piece that can figuratively, proverbially, and literally- who's content and character can melt into the spiritual and literal equivalent of being "hidden" from all those who do not have the capability to interpret what is from what is not.
Though, Luci possessing a power like this and having knowledge of its existence, constantly awares her to the possibility that she will miss someone or something of this same vein that could harm her.
You gain the following benefits at all times.
You and everything you are carrying is obscured in one of the following manners. You may Spend an Action to change the way in which you're concealed.
While this Effect is active, any Effect that would obscure you or your equipment specifically from other, additional senses fails automatically.
If someone discovers you, this Effect will not help you hide from them for the next minute. This Effect does not end early when you activate an obvious Effect, attack, or receive an Injury.
You may turn this Effect on and off at will during its duration.
Possession of this Power grants the following Trauma at all times: Paranoia..
The witch knows bad things happen to bad people. By bringing attention to a karmic imbalance, she can hurry it along, causing her target's bad luck to catch up with them. The target finds themselves suffering injuries due to freakishly bad luck until they cleanse themselves or perish.
Exert your Mind and spend one minute. Select a Living target within 25 feet. This Effect cannot be used unless the target deserves it. Roll Charisma + Occult at Difficulty 6. Your target may resist by rolling Body at Difficulty 7.
If you succeed, the target is afflicted with a Condition that causes one of the following symptoms:
The affliction is not treatable by modern medicine. It may be diagnosed by rolling Intellect + Occult at Difficulty 6, and can be cured by bathing fully in clear running water.
This Effect is not obvious, and the only sign you are using an Effect is you staring at the target, speaking calmly. If someone suspects that an Effect was used, they must roll Perception + Alertness, Difficulty 8 to pick up on your Tell.
The Witch wiggles her fingers at her broomstick, and it leaps from the ground with a whoosh of wind. She may then hop on and fly around. It’s so fun, she often finds herself cackling uncontrollably.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action. You must actively and obviously use a broom to activate this Effect.
You may ascend into the air and fly using your mind. Your Free Movement is Mind x5 feet/Round, including vertically. You cannot Dash. When sprinting, roll Mind and add your rating in Mind plus 1 to the outcome, multiply by 5 to find your sprint speed. Your encumbrance limit is 10 lbs per point of Mind.
You are subject to the following effects while gliding or flying:
When the Vampire's lust for blood is satiated, their injuries heal at a remarkably fast rate and new injuries are quickly stabilized. While healing, the Vampire's skin retains its deathly pale appearance, as any blood he consumes is being used to repair his wounds.
You gain the following benefits as long as as long as you have drank a half gallon (lethal) amount of blood in the past 24 hours.
Any Injury you receive heals quickly, reducing its Severity by one level each hour. Any Injuries you receive while this Effect is active do not deteriorate over time. However, any Battle Scars caused by such an Injury will remain unless it is Properly Stabilized as normal.
By focusing, the Thief may shroud their hands in shadowy tendrils that seek nearby objects like static-charged hairs. They cast themselves across any surface the Thief touches, acting as anchors that allow the Thief to scale even the sheerest walls.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action.
You may move easily and without a roll in any of the following situations. Lasts 2 hours.
The Toon performs some sort of cartoonish act of violence. This may be handing someone a bomb, hitting someone with a cartoon mallet, burping a burp that is so noxious it melts flesh, or anything else as long as it is cartoonish.
The attack is more of a throwaway gag than a plot element, so any props or properties of the attack are incidental and disappear immediately. Animated mallets evaporate in a puff of smoke, fire does not spread, and electricity cannot power devices.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action. Select a target within 45 feet. Roll Charisma + Performance Difficulty 6. The target may contest by rolling to Dodge or Defend as a Reaction, Difficulty 6.
If the contested Outcome is positive, the target takes that much Damage plus 4. Armor is fully effective against this damage.
