As a superhero, Alan is able to express himself far better than he can normally. The raw power of his personality is enough to bend the rules of the world around him-- things instead operating as they would in a TV show or comic book. The emotional states, as well as truths/lies he can ascertain from other people appears as a set of narrating text bubbles from Alan's personal perspective.
You gain the following benefits as long as you are in your Superhero Form and you have your animated, circular eyes.
Your Charisma rating is increased by 2. You may Exert your Mind to automatically gain an Outcome of 5 on any roll that uses Charisma (Cannot be used on combat rolls or Power activations).
If you are witnessed actively using this Effect, whoever sees it can make a Perception + Alertness roll at Difficulty 6. A complete success reveals the source of your power.
You also gain the following effects:
- Anime: You may have a 30 second conversation with another character on your initiative each Round in Combat, and using any Communication Effect takes a Free Action instead of a full Action.
- Hey, Listen!: You cannot be ignored or unheard when directly addressing an entity.
- Honest Eyes: Your word is accepted as honest so long as you are speaking the truth as you understand it. You can always tell if someone telling a lie without making a roll, though you may not know what they are concealing
- Me, an Empath: You have an intuitive understanding of the emotional state of any Animate being within 30 feet. Once per person per day you may roll Charisma + Influence to learn what things they respect or disrespect in others.
- The Price Of Fame: Any sightings or recordings of your activity can easily be traced back to you. Even when disguised or using an alias, people always get a Perception check to recognize you.
- On its own, your empath abilities do not allow you to detect lies.
- If your animated, circular eyes is damaged, destroyed, or lost, you lose all benefits from this Effect for the next two months.
- Attribute bonuses from multiple sources do not stack. Instead the highest bonus is used.

Charlatans

Nowadays you can't go a day without some phony prophet trying to peddle their wares to you.
Driven by the increased interest in the supernatural, charlatans from palm readers to televangelists are everywhere. And while the vast majority of witches, psychics, magicians, hypnotists, cures, potions, faith healers, and clairvoyants are complete fakes, they do make a living.
As the saying goes, "it's easier for an actor to make it in alternative medicine than Hollywood."
Most people scoff at these clearly-phony supernatural services, yet those same people often buy into at least one scam.
The most dangerous charlatans are the self-styled monster hunters who carry a mall-ninja arsenal and guns with silver bullets. Most have never encountered anything supernatural and do absolutely nothing besides burn some sage and patrol the area for a night or two. Even so, those who are superstitious, fearful, or desperate enough will hire them to solve the problems they simply don't understand. In some cases with disastrous results.
For Contractors, charlatans are red herrings and obstacles. Clumsy fakes that conjure a smokescreen of misinformation and escalate the situations they're in.

After leading the members of the Carnival to safety after the events of Game I, Joshua’s experience leading his Traveling Jam Band and his old military battalion has crystallized into the commanding charm of a true hero.
No longer will commands go unheard in the chaos of a active battle ground. His singing voice will never be lost in the din of a crowd. Even at a whisper, the voice of a hero rings louder than any other.
You gain the following benefits as long as you have your Joshua Jones’s Lucky Peacock Feather.
Your Charisma rating is increased by 1. You may Exert your Mind to automatically gain an Outcome of 5 on any roll that uses Charisma (Cannot be used on combat rolls or Power activations).
If you are witnessed actively using this Effect, whoever sees it can make a Perception + Alertness roll at Difficulty 6. A complete success reveals the source of your power.
You also gain the following effects:
- Hey, Listen!: You cannot be ignored or unheard when directly addressing an entity.
- If your Joshua Jones’s Lucky Peacock Feather is damaged, destroyed, or lost, you lose all benefits from this Effect for the next two months, or until you can recover any relevant missing items (which may involve a side-game and requires a GM to approve whatever process is used).

- Liar Liar Pants on Fire: You have an intuitive understanding of whether or not someone believes what they are saying. You can always tell if someone is lying to you without making a roll, though you do not necessarily know what they are lying about.
- Poker Face: You never give any outward indication of dishonesty. It is impossible to tell that you are lying, and you are able to fool any method of lie detection without making a roll.
- In rare cases, GMs may require you to make a roll to detect a lie from particularly powerful beings (trickster gods, etc).
- In rare cases, GMs may require you to make a roll to lie to particularly powerful beings.
- If your Immaculate smile with white pearly teeth is damaged, destroyed, or lost, you lose all benefits from this Effect for the next two months, or until you can recover any relevant missing items (which may involve a side-game and requires a GM to approve whatever process is used).
Vulpine Charm
Even when walking into a party univited, I always have an invitation.
As he talks to whomever, they always get a sense of warmth, as they talk to the good business fox. They remember him, and always seem to invite him in if he asks.

Your Charisma rating is increased by 1. You may Exert your Mind to automatically gain an Outcome of 5 on any roll that uses Charisma (Cannot be used on combat rolls or Power activations).
Possession of this Power grants the following Battle Scar: Weak Stomach.

- Party Animal: You are welcome at, and will be granted entrance to, any social gathering or party, at least as an observer.
- The Price Of Fame: Any sightings or recordings of your activity can easily be traced back to you. Even when disguised or using an alias, people always get a Perception check to recognize you.
- A "social gathering" might include a birthday party, after-work drinks, a ski trip, or yoga in the park, among other things. It likely would not include a cult gathering to summon a demon, Congressional negotiations over a contentious bill, etc.
- Attribute bonuses from multiple sources do not stack. Instead the highest bonus is used.

- Poker Face: You reveal only what you want to reveal. It is impossible to determine whether or not you are lying. You may roll Charisma + Performance to resist any investigative Effect that targets you. If you successfully resist, you determine the info they get.
- Unflappable: Any attempts to control or influence your thoughts or emotions are rolled at +1 Difficulty.
- In rare cases, GMs may require you to make a roll to lie to particularly powerful beings.
- Attribute bonuses from multiple sources do not stack. Instead the highest bonus is used.
