As per the function of the neuromod, the function is quite simple-- even if this version is not as efficient as the others, requiring a full eight hours of conditioning as compared to the normal five minutes for proper application of the neuromod. What is the neuromod you may ask? It's a device that restructures the neural patterns of an individual, imparting skills and experience they never had before. A pianist can put their many years of playing into someone who hasn't even touched one before and can play the same way as the pianist. The only problem is how gruesome the process is. In order for application of the neuromod to take effect, the neuromod has two needles on its handgun-like make and must be inserted directly into the eye for five minutes. Yes, it hurts. No, there is no alternative. There's a reason why there must be a third of a day's worth of conditioning.
Use up this neuromod , Exert your Mind, and spend eight hours to activate. Select a Living target within arm's reach. Your target must make a Trauma roll when you activate this Effect. The target can easily Resist.
You may add one augmentation to your target. Each augmentation counts as a Battle Scar and can have exactly one of the following Effects:
The augmentations you provide are not outwardly visible nor obvious.
Flicking his thumb on his middle finger, and pressing his thumb to something allows him to set it aflame, or hold a steady fire at the tip of his thumb, which he can extinguish by rubbing his thumb against his pointer finger. He can make this flame about as large as a flame of a lighter, and seems quite willing to use it for lighting anything around him, though he keeps his arm extended away from his head while doing so.
A large scar covers the right side of the gift barers face, and they seem to be missing an eye due to excessive burn damage. Before he figured out how to extinguish the flame after summoning it, he had accidently gone to rub his eye while it was still lit, burning his eye and lighting the beard he used to have on fire.
Spend an Action. Select a target within arm's reach which has both fuel and oxygen available (if you are starting a new fire).
You may start or extinguish a fire as large as a torch's flame at your target. You may create or extinguish fires the size of a lighter or candle flame without Exerting your Mind. Your fires require fuel and oxygen in order to continue burning.
Lighting a target on fire deals 2 Damage each Round on your turn, starting in the Round after the one in which they caught fire. This Damage is reduced by Armor, but the target’s Armor rating will be depleted by any Damage dealt, destroying the Armor once it reaches 0.
You may extinguish flames as a Reaction. This does not extend to explosives.
This Gift's Cost is capped at 2 and cannot be increased further.
Possession of this Power grants the following Battle Scar: One Eye.
Nestled within Gustav's cranium resides a sinister demon known as Corruptus, the Mindcage. When this power is invoked, a horrifying transformation occurs. For a fleeting moment, Gustav's skull splits open, revealing his ensnared mind. Within, eerie, sinuous tentacles sway hypnotically, weaving an intricate and disturbing barrier.
This grotesque and ethereal barrier, composed of twisted soul flesh, latches onto the target with an otherworldly grip. The contact can result in agonizing burns within the victim's very soul. Once attached, the barrier retaliates with eternal, fleshy tentacles that lash out at the attacker
Spend an Action or Reaction. Select a Animate target within 20 feet. You must make a Trauma roll when you use this Effect. Its Difficulty cannot be reduced by any means. Roll Intellect + Occult at Difficulty 6.
If you succeed, you create a barrier around your target, which absorbs the next Outcome + 2 Damage. The Damage reduction from the barrier is applied before Armor. You may only have 1 active barrier at a time.
You must maintain Concentration while using this Effect. The barrier will fall if you are interrupted, or if it absorbs the full amount of Damage. When a barrier falls, you cannot use this Effect again for a minimum of 2 Rounds. As long as it does not fall, the barrier regenerates back to full strength at the end of each Round of combat.
Anyone who witnesses you during this Effect's activation will almost certainly be disturbed to see tormented souls as cover.
This Gift's Cost is capped at 2 and cannot be increased further.
While using this ability, Gottlieb gains black and purple fire around his wrists, and his eyes turn completely black.
He shoots off black and purple orbs of 'cursed fire' from his palms, which draw from the fire around his wrists. Due to his firearms training, he has pinpoint accuracy with them. Each shot causes knockback.
He is not actually the one powering this ability, it is actually the nekomata residing within the cursed pendant who channels the energy through his body. Over time, he may come to regret taking on this 'friend'...
Spend an Action. Select a target within 45 feet. Roll Dexterity + Firearms Difficulty 6. The target may contest by rolling to Dodge or Defend as a Reaction, Difficulty 6.
If the Contested Outcome is positive, the target takes that much Damage plus 4.
Any Injury inflicted is considered unstabilized even if its Severity is less than 4. The equipment and roll required to Stabilize it is treated as though it is a minimum of Severity 6.
If the target receives an Injury, they are knocked back 5 * Severity feet.
This Gift's Cost is capped at 2 and cannot be increased further.
Possession of this Artifact causes the following Battle Scar to manifest over the course of a day: burned fingertips. If they lose possession of this Artifact, the Battle Scar heals over the course of the next day.
After visiting his church recently, he had found a rather odd scripture that seemed if it was put there just for him. The scripture itself was a rather small pocket bible holding in certain passages and itself had a bit of a burnt cover but the pages perfectly fine. From out the book and to the hand spits holy fire.
Spend an Action to activate. Select a target within 20 feet which has both fuel and oxygen available (if you are starting a new fire).
You may start a new fire as large as a fire in a residential fireplace at your target. You may create fires the size of a lighter or candle flame without Exerting your Mind. Your fires require fuel and oxygen in order to continue burning.
Lighting a target on fire deals 3 damage per round, starting in the next round after the one in which they caught fire. This damage is reduced by Armor, but the target’s Armor rating will be depleted by any damage dealt, destroying the Armor once it reaches 0.
This Gift's Cost is capped at 2 and cannot be increased further.
The Future Soldier learned to create foam grenades in their own time period, and they still can, kinda. They look like glowing orange capsules with a rugged rubberized grip. When thrown, they burst into a splash of expanding neon orange foam. The foam hardens in seconds, severely hampering the movement of anyone unlucky enough to have been splashed. Those affected may use their hands or weapons to hack away at the foam and free themselves.
Occasionally, the fuses on these bootleg grenades fails, and they go off immediately.
Spend an Action and use up this small metallic grenade with pin (unless you succeed on 1d10, Difficulty 7). Make a thrown attack at a Location within normal attack range. Roll a single D10 as a critical failure check. If you roll a 1, the Effect fails, and you are hit as it activates immediately at your present location. The target may roll to dodge or defend, as normal for thrown attacks. The attack does not deal Damage, but the Effect does.
If you succeed, all affected targets will be restricted at their location by a physical, tangible binding. They can still move their arms and use Effects, but are reduced to ¼ of their movement speed.
The binding around a target must be destroyed in order for them to break free. Breaking the binding requires a total amount of Damage equal to twice the original Contested Outcome. Damage from multiple attacks is cumulative and stacks linearly.
The spy can twist the urban environment to their whims, erecting fences, walls, and barriers as needed. They whistle and gesture to where the wall should be, and the surrounding materials fly into place.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action. Select a Location within 50 feet. You must be in an area abundant with man-made structures and materials.
Select one of the following alterations to create out of standard building materials originating at the target:
The alteration begins to form when you activate this Effect and finishes forming on your initiative in the next Round. Until it finishes forming, it is not guaranteed to function.
This alteration lasts one minute but may be prematurely destroyed or altered. Your alterations may be broken through with appropriate tools. Anyone attempting to break through must roll Brawn + a relevant Ability. A cumulative Outcome of 6 across all attempts breaks a hole large enough to move through. See the extended system text for GM guidance on various tools.
The mutant now occasionally lays large, orange-speckled eggs. These Eggs do not hatch nor spoil. If cracked and applied to a chronic injury such as a missing limb, the scar heals completely within the hour. However, any area healed by the egg will forever carry an inhuman appearance as testament to the bizarre method of treatment.
Spend a minute and use up this unusually large egg (unless you succeed on 1d10, Difficulty 7). Select a Living target within arm's reach. Select a Battle Scar on your target to treat.
The treated Battle Scar heals as you finish activating this Effect.
Healing a Battle Scar in this way leaves behind an inhuman attribute such as fur, scales, or feathers on the target which cannot be healed.
The mystic enters a meditation while focusing on a remote location. A glowing sigil of an eye appears on their forehead, and a ghostly image of themselves meditating appears at the location they are envisioning. For a brief period, they may see the area they are projecting to as though they were standing there.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action. Select a target Location within 75 feet.
You may perceive things as if you were standing at that Location. The effect lasts indefinitely but you must maintain Concentration to keep it up. You cannot perceive anything at your physical location while the effect is active.
You create a visible manifestation at the Location where your senses are projected which looks like a ghostly image of yourself meditating.
No terrestrial animal dares defy the will of the beastmaster. The beastmaster exerts their dominance over an animal by locking eyes and giving a primal cry. The creature immediately becomes docile and eager to please.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action. Select a Creature within 20 feet. This Effect cannot be used unless the target is a terrestrial animal.
For the next day, you may issue specific commands to your target which they will be compelled to follow.
Your commands can be complex and multi-layered, though they must still be specific. You cannot make them obviously endanger themselves or violate their instinct for self-preservation. The effects of the command will fade after a day has passed.
Sapient targets can resist by rolling Mind at Difficulty 6.
