Maze has picked up a small amount of combat abilities due to his excursions beyond his own world, however, he uses them unorthodoxly. Choosing to fight while with a partner instead, but still not above using simple strikes and attacks if need be.
You gain the following benefits as long as Atlas is active and you are engaged in unarmed combat.
+2 dice to rolls for Attacking, Defending, and Clashing without a weapon. Unarmed attacks do +0 Weapon Damage (instead of -1).
You may Defend against melee, projectile, or firearm Attacks from any range and Clash with those in range of your Attacks. Attacking materials like steel or spikes will not Damage you unless it has an Effect that does so.
You also gain the following effects:
After taking on multiple spirts, another reaper, and a physical manifestation of fear and nightmares, Penny’s and Valerie’s mental defenses have proven strong, but only barely strong enough to survive. But their mental fortitude seems to be expanding, growing, as if she was only half awake before. Almost, in an ironic twist, more alive.
You gain the following benefits at all times.
You get +1 dice to any Mind resistance rolls you make. You also gain the following effects:
Arthur Annuler is wreathed in a black mist, then disappears for a short amount of time into the gap between realities. The spot he disappeared from leaves an imprint of black mist behind. Arthur is fully capable of moving in the gap between realities.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action to activate.
You phase out of reality for 3 Rounds. During this time, you cannot perceive or affect the outside world but may take mental and self-targeting Actions. Nothing can interact with you in any way.
You leave An imprint of black mist in the shape of Arthur behind at your location in the real world when you use this effect.
Delphyrion crushes a stopwatch in their hand and watches as the debris tears holes into the space-time continuum. They peer into the bounds between the living and the dead, the seams that separate parallel timelines, and the space from one dimension to the next.
Contractors draw their power from their parallel selves, so naturally upon death, said power disperses once again to take a new form. Something about the Law of Conservation of Matter.
They reach into everywhere and nowhere and pluck the bits of potential and ambition that the Harbingers once saw for the dead Contractor.
And they breathe it upon the corpse, for better or worse.
The act of living is quite... fickle.
What constitutes living, if not just existing? Am I not living, now that I barely exist in this realm? How cruel. In order to be remembered in this world, you HAVE to leave something behind. Something notable enough for someone alive to acknowledge. Your life and death will always rest in another's hand.
So let's conduct a little experiment. From here on out, you're... not quite alive, but you exist. Go and figure out your place in this cruel world, see how valuable you are now that people realize they've taken you for granted. Be seen.
And realize that once again, you're trapped in a mortal shell, with more shackles than before. You'll understand what it's like to be fundamentally different. Even more so, you're another one of my endless projects now.
Exert your Mind, spend one minute, and select a specific place, person, or item within arm’s reach. Select a Dead target within arm's reach with at least half its skeletal structure remaining. This Effect cannot be used unless Delphyrion is not in direct sunlight. You must use up a human bone in order to activate this Effect.
Your target rises as an Animate being. They remember their past life and retain their same personality. They can communicate as they would have been able to in life. They may roll Mind, Difficulty 8, to resist any commands you give them.
The creature lasts until it strays at least 80 feet from the chosen place, person, or item or until it dies again. It is revived at full health. Any Injuries it had in life are not accounted for when determining its penalties or progression towards re-death, though they may affect its ability to perform certain actions at GM's discretion.
Raised creatures have all their Abilities set to 0. Their Attributes are all the same as they were in life, except Dexterity, which is fixed at 1. A raised creature cannot use any Effects.
You may end this Effect prematurely as a Free Action.
You may only use this Effect once per day.
Due to all the injuries and stress he’s underwent/taken on jobs as a detective and jobs in the contract, Frazier is learning to shut it all out..slowly.
You gain the following benefits at all times.
Your Stress from Injuries and Mind Damage is reduced to 0.
Benny's mind is enriched with iron and difficult to penetrate
You gain the following benefits as long as if you have fed within the last 24 hours.
You get +4 dice to any Mind resistance rolls you make.
The creature's claws rip through the poor, defenseless doctor's coat, opening deep gashes in their gut. It bares its fangs to lunge for the killing blow, but the doctor looks up at the attacker. Their eyes filed not with utter terror at their imminent demise, only a look of disappointment and pity. Touched, the monster hesitates. . .
This Effect activates whenever you receive a Severity 2 or higher Injury from an attack. It does not require an Action or Exertion. Select a Living target within 45 feet. Your target should be intuitively based on the triggering event. Roll Charisma + Influence at Difficulty 6. Affected targets can resist by rolling Mind at Difficulty 6.
If you succeed, for the next minute, your target will do things they otherwise wouldn’t have done, inspired by remorse for hurting such a pure soul. They will not necessarily display their emotions in an obvious way.
Actions they take will be in keeping with their character and the way they tend to deal with strong emotions. They will be unlikely to change their mind about any actions taken or decisions made until after the Effect ends.
As a free creature, The Fairy cannot withstand being caged or imprisioned in any way. Luckily, they possess a glamour that allows them to unlock any lock binding them with a wink of their eye. The lock falls open with a sparkle of light and a sound like a ringing bell.
Spend an Action. Select a Non-Alien door, container, knot, or lock within arm's reach. This Effect cannot be used unless the targeted lock or door is being used to restrain or imprison you.
You may lock, unlock, and/or open your target.
Doc puts his hands on you and begins to mutter to himself in french. The effect is instant and horrible. You begin to remember all of the sins of your past, all the ways that you've wronged those who loved you. All of the terrible, evil things you've done on these contracts in order to survive. Doc seems to be in the grips of similar memories, tears running down his chin and dripping onto his hands that are pressed tightly against you. At the point where your mind feels like it's about to break, it's over. Just as quickly as it began. You feel your wounds begin to close.
Exert your Mind and spend 1 minute. Select a Living target within arm's reach. You must make a Trauma roll when you use this Effect. Its Difficulty cannot be reduced by any means. If you fail or Botch, you receive one Mind Damage and a new Trauma. Your target must make a Trauma roll to reap the benefits of this Effect. They may choose to Resist the Effect and not make the roll. Choose a specific Injury on your target that has not yet been treated with this Effect and roll Charisma + Medicine at Difficulty 6.
If you succeed, the Injury is reduced in Severity by your Outcome. If you reduce its Severity to 0, the Injury is fully healed. Otherwise, it is partially healed and will heal the rest of the way at its natural rate.
This counts as a successful Makeshift Stabilization if the Injury was not already Stabilized; any Battle Scars caused by the Injury will remain.
The mobster presents a reasoned, logical case to the target: there's a lot of dangerous folks out there, and only they can offer safety... for a price.
If they agree, they will pay the mobster a monthly fee for protection. If they stop making their payments... well, let's just say, the mobster can't be held responsible for any unsavory types that might pay them a visit.
This Effect cannot be used unless you are making a deal to exchange money for protection.
You may make an oath with a physically-present, Sapient target. Communicate the oath's terms to the target, including the requirements and penalties for each participant. If all agree to the terms, you must Exert your Mind and all participants must shake hands to seal the deal.
Record the oath as a Condition. If a party breaks the oath, the Condition ends and they suffer the oath's penalty.
When crafting your oath, you may incorporate any of the following penalties:
The target cannot be compelled to agree via a direct threat of violence, another Effect, or another oath. If you would like to use clever wording to mislead the target, you must succeed a contested Intellect + (Culture or Influence) roll.
The time-twister presses a button on one of their wristwatches, and, in a flash of orange light, disappears. They have skipped 12 seconds forward in time. To them, the travel is instantaneous, but everyone else must wait until they reappear.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action. You must actively and obviously use a clock or watch to activate this Effect.
You phase out of reality for 4 Rounds. During this time, you cannot perceive or affect the outside world or take any Actions. You cannot move. Nothing can interact with you in any way.
When you phase out, you may bring up to 1 additional target in arm's reach with you.
