Sav'ant is passively protected by an increased investiture of Karma, so long as he is wearing Buddhist Ornamentry through which his fate is marked, this means that attacks that would hit him simply wouldn't, and attacks that would've been lethal are simply less lethal. Sav'ant is just, more fateful.
